Bobby Kotick being a Friend of Jeffrey suddenly made me remember the 10 year saga of how Hearthstone, Blizzard’s gem amongst gems, was bloated and milked to the point that I hard-wiped my Battlenet account.

This piece from Eurogamer in 2022 lays it all out. I truly had a joyous time with this game.
State of the Game: Hearthstone - one of the best games you shouldn’t play
Our State of the Game series continues with a look at Hearthstone and its troubling microtransactions.

Exceptionally illuminating.
Somehow I had missed that a full feature and history of one of the greatest runs of TV/streaming/Internet/whatever humor this century appeared last week: @trixiemattel.bsky.social and @katya-zamo.bsky.social on the brilliance that was (and is, I happily rewatch episodes) _UNHhhh_.

STARDUST (2007, DVD, #film)

A bloated, boring, dragging mess that has aged sharply worse than expected, and not just because of the Gaiman / Vaughn / Gervais factors. It's poorly scripted and drenched in sweat trying to be winsome.

Claire Danes and Michelle Pfeiffer pull hard but only MP has fun.

SEND HELP (2026, theatrical, #film)

So entertaining and so nasty it feels like it should be an early Peter Jackson movie. The leads are 100% onboard and know what the task is, the edit is tight enough, and it's *fun*.

Would make a great double feature with BLINK TWICE (2024) or PRIMATE (2026).

a pal is fully into 3D printing and has successfully replicated a bullshit little plastic clip that keeps our pots standing up.

I am pleased, as this has saved us $70.

Impassioned editorial about what the imminent collapse of release windows means for the film industry. Convincing to me.

Just woke up from a nap and it was one of the hardest boot sequences my brain has ever performed; a physically excruciating reassembly of a continuous narrative reality.

Frankenstein as a verb. Black smoke shuddering out of vents. Ouch.

You've heard of semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy), tirzepetide (Mounjaro/Zepbound).

But there are new drugs coming, ones that leave these in the dust, and leave clinicians and scientists asking: Can people lose too much too fast? www.scientificamerican.com/article/new-...

By me.
The next wave of GLP-1 drugs are coming—and they’re stronger than Wegovy and Zepbound
The upcoming drugs CagriSema and retatrutide target multiple gut hormones and could cause twice as much weight loss than current treatments. But experts wonder how much is too much

just in case you're wondering what's going on with Milo Ventmiglia, he's co-starring as the yassified version of a 49 year old Christian pop singer in the glossy sequel to a 2018 Christpirational flick that was entirely about the process of writing a pop song That Changed Lives

My new short film, “A Rupture in Time,” is about processing my wife’s metastatic cancer diagnosis: a river trip intercut with symbolic imagery (fire, tree blossoms turning to bare branches, a telephone pole being disassembled). Music is a 1972 free jazz recording by Khan Jamal. vimeo.com/1141749851
