Last night I had what was called on the menu, "turnip juice." But it was actually the juice of the purple carrot mixed with turnip juice. It was savory, a bit salty, had a fermented/pickled flavor. It was tasty, and a little goes a long way. Had it at Chef Agir, NE Fremont/13th in #Portland.

It's been a hard week so I had some fried food for lunch--battered and deep fried chicken over a salad of cabbage, tomato, onions, mint, cilantro, and lime at local Thai spot Sa Bai Thai in East Portland. I put their pickled green Thai chilis (probably Prik Nam Som) on it, which was nice.

The world feels turned upside down so I took some solace in cheese. I stopped in at Cowbell, picked up some L'Étivaz and discovered they sell balls of fresh mozzarella made by Narragansett Creamery. At $10/lb, this ball was a little over half a pound, so $5.50, a deal. Both cheeses are delicious.

It never ceases to amaze me that the first CheezIt is always the best tasting one. Each one after that gets progressively less interesting. No continuous "bliss point" for me, I guess. 🤷♀️

While I was driving home from errands this morning I was on NE Fremont and passed the Fremont Garage pod that is under construction. They seem to be making good progress. I couldn't snap a pic while driving, but here's our article from June 2024 on them. Updating this is in the plans.
