I read this book 6 1/2 years ago and much to my surprise, it has had an impact on my life every day since. It’s simple, easy to read and profound.

Read this opinion carefully. This is a paramilitary force violently attacking and detaining American citizens for opposing the regime. Obviously, those are my words, not the judge's. The facts are the facts. The only "crime" that these people committed was exercising their 1st Amendment rights
Here's the dismissal opinion in the Dana Briggs case. Everyone should read it.

Among other things it describes that none of the very celebrated (by DHS) arrests on September survived.

The new “War on Christmas”. I swear some folks think Herod was the hero of the story.
"Agencies within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including ICE, ERO, and CBP intend to implement a comprehensive plan to target Spanish-speaking churches across the country during the upcoming holiday season between Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, and Christmas, Dec. 25."
Exclusive: Trump DHS Plans Immigration Raids on Churches Over Holidays
The Trump Dept. of Homeland Security is briefing federal agencies on plans for immigration enforcement operations inside churches over holidays.

0 points for me. I’ve done all of these (well, #9 only as a joke in my own home). And I read the entire World Book encyclopedia before I was 10 years old (my parents got their money’s worth).

John Roberts is an insurrectionist. He’s working to complete the unfinished business of January 6, 2001, installing Trump as American dictator for life. There’s no other explanation for his actions since then.
“Is it that the Chief Justice doesn’t accept that the Court is losing credibility on a daily basis; that he thinks the Court doesn’t need that credibility in order to fulfill its intended role in our constitutional system; or that he doesn’t care?”

Me on John Roberts as his Court turns 20 today:
180. The Roberts Court Turns 20
The Supreme Court is much less popular and much more divisive today than it was when John Roberts was sworn in as the 17th Chief Justice on September 29, 2005. And at least much of that is his fault.

Excellent suggestion. The free press is more than just powerful institutions. I respect and support @propublica.org
@texastribune.org
@404media.co
@emptywheel.bsky.social
@jasonleopold.bsky.social
@ruthbenghiat.bsky.social
and of course @brandibuchman.bsky.social
So maybe how about you all you stop surrendering the press for the press! Maybe support the press. Keep making your demands for better journalism everywhere instead of giving up and taking your ball home. Find the ones you respect and support them.

Got an email (to my work email address) from Atlassian asking me to take part in a survey “to share my thoughts on Jira, Confluence, and the future of Atlassian products”.
I want to send them a link to ifuckinghatejira.com (but that wouldn’t be professional).
I fucking hate Jira.
Real opinions from real people about a project management system which unfortunately is also real.

Code is like fish. Software developers) like to talk about code that “smells”. That’s code that isn’t always wrong; it just makes you dig deeper to see if something is off. Well, I think dead code (code that is still in your code base, but can’t be reached) smells … like dead fish. #fsharp #csharp

One downside of convincing a large segment of society of a sinister, all-powerful, secret cabal working to destroy them is the inherent lack of brakes. Anything less than total war against the cabal becomes proof that you’ve been co-opted by it — further proving its power and existence.
It's amazing that the first moment in which Trump's grip on his base has appeared to weaken comes from his not being able to backstop the Epstein conspiracy theory. Seems clear the "Comey under investigation" junk was meant to be a hunk of red meat but it's not going to be enough!

Seems like a question for @peterhotezmdphd.bsky.social
Rewording my earlier post.

RFK Jr will be testifying before Congress.

I am interested in what experts and others think would be the best way to leverage this time and opportunity for the public good.

If you were behind the dais for this hearing, what would you do? What do you want to see asked?

Highly recommend the book “On Repentance and Repair” by
@theradr.bsky.social in this context. Start with the fact that Musk deliberately destroyed USAID, causing unspeakable harm to some of the world’s most vulnerable people. He’s got a lot of repairing to do
Some Democrats are looking to cosy up to Musk:

Ro Khanna: “We should ultimately be trying to convince him that the Democratic Party has more of the values that he agrees with.”

Ritchie Torres: “I'm a believer in redemption, and he is telling the truth about the legislation.”
