just watched Task, the new miniseries Ingelsby made instead of a 2nd season of Mare (sidenote: making a 2nd miniseries w/ similar vibes was a way better call than a direct follow up) & it explicitly references the pandemic, which is interesting
most fiction since 2020 either ignores covid or just isn't about it, which is fine, but Mare of Easttown is a weird case for explicitly taking place in an alternate universe where covid didn't happen

notably i've seen people use the words "false accusations" in reference to CK or Ansari, guys who didn't dispute the allegations against them

KING SORROW is a huge book that features a lot of joe hill cribbing his own notes. i'm okay with that, because they're good notes & i think he's expanding on ideas he's explored before more often than just repeating them, but there are a lot of existing joe hill motifs

this one surprised me. i was never a pronatal person, but i always bought that an aging population would be a problem in ways that this video really challenges
yeah it's really messed up how much it's become like a mainstream liberal position that aziz ansari didn't do anything wrong. he didn't commit any crimes in the article (which he admitted was all true) but his behavior was pretty clearly messed up & not okay
There always have to be specific cases—Aziz Ansari, Depp v. Heard—where the women who came forward are just repeatedly slandered in service of the narrative that they lied and they are examples of MeToo excess, even when they've only been harmed for coming forward and egregiously so!

I’m Jewish. I lived in New York for a decade. I am very, very concerned about antisemitism.
I have no doubt that Zohran Mamdani would fight to protect my life and my rights. I have no doubt the ADL has entirely failed to protect me and my family from fascists.
