Heading: "Possible LIRR strike starting September 18" Body text: "Some Long Island Rail Road unions have threatened to strike as early as Thursday, September 18. If a strike happens, LIRR service would be forced to shut down entirely. The MTA has bargained in good faith with the unions representing LIRR employees. However, some of those unions have rejected a contract that offered 9.5% wage increases over a period of three years, which approximately half of the LIRR workforce has already accepted. The terms offered would ensure that LIRR employees remain the highest-paid railroad employees in the country. A strike would have a devastating impact on the nearly 300,000 passengers who depend on the LIRR to get where they need to go every single day. MTA leaders will continue to negotiate with the unions in an effort to ensure that a strike does not happen. However, we want riders to be prepared in case employees do go on strike."

Anyone who has read my old columns knows my radical stance on comic book continuity (part 2 is here. Click the links if you care). The short version is this, I think comic book continuity should be treated as TV continuity traditionally has, that is to say, every show has its own, individual continuity - even when that show shares characters from other shows. The old sit-coms Seinfeld and Mad About You share characters but both shows conveniently ignore that fact whenever they feel like it. This allows them to have all the fun of crossovers, without the silly baggage of both shows having to keep it all straight (and, wonder of wonders, you can watch and enjoy either show without ever watching the other one). This is the right answer for comics too, because complex interlocking storylines across dozens of series will inherently prove to be absurd. Let me demonstrate."

feels not unrelated that someone slapped a "[citation needed]" on the correct explanation for dwayne mcduffie's "six degrees of st elsewhere" that it is not, in fact, a real fan theory. like what do you mean citation needed, they cite the article, he's not subtle about it

wikipedia this did not happen. wikipedia when a guy who looks like cassidy from preacher shows up in the boys, owning a bar cassidy talked about owning & going by his first name, that is an easter egg. that does not mean the comics take place in 1 universe

The fight for mayor in the district of Yúngar between two historical-named candidates was won Sunday by Hitler Guesclin Alba Sánchez, who campaigned on the slogan “I’m the good Hitler.” With 47.7% of the vote, he topped rival Lenin Vladimir Rodríguez Valverde in the district within the Ancash region, according to the state news service Andina. “Maybe it’s a coincidence that my name is Hitler,” Alba told the news service Efe during the campaign. “The German was Adolf Hitler and the history that we know is of a bad person. Perhaps his ideology could be imposed in the wrong way. “I really don’t have any objection to (the name) Hitler,” Alba added. “It’s like any other name. For me, it’s as if my name was Juan, Lucas or Sebastián.” Though just 2,500 voters (of around 3,000 residents) turned out to the small town election, the campaign build up made international headlines for the strangely named contest between Hitler and Lenin. This is the second time that Alba will be mayor of Yúngar, despite being just 37 years old. He previously served as mayor from 2011 to 2014. He has told interviewers in the past that he believes his father did not know who the German dictator was when he named him.
