What a stark, horrifying demonstration of the tension a union opens itself to when it organizes security forces.

If you hesitate to condemn the killing of a member, for fear of alienating the members who fired the guns, what sort of cage have you built around your union?
My god.

Statement from AFGE: Alex was a member. His killer may have been as well.

I don’t think you’ll get a more “on the nose” example of blowback than a guy from Afghanistan who America trained to go around executing civilians in something called a “zero squad” who later moves to America and attacks the American government. Like holy shit what the fuck are we doing here?

there’s no reason not to do this. it’d probably end up with another kind of constitutional crisis, which is exactly why it should happen.
Martin O'Malley just mentioned state attorneys general filing state kidnapping charges. Just imagine the collective cheer in this country if state troopers pulled over, arrested and cuffed a van full of masked ICE fascists.

lot of outlets are doing this smug Return To Norms framing but it just makes Dems look impotent. If the norms mean you can stoke a riot to steal an election without any consequences then just… run again (the ‘heads I win, tails you lose’ principle) then the norms are politically and morally bad!
