Resigned CDC official: I was really optimistic that we could continue to improve public health infrastructure across our nation. But with losing 30% of my staff, not able to execute contracts, not be able to hire new individuals, it became apparent I wasn't going to be effective in my role

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

Make Sure You Have It In Writing is amazing widely applicable advice for all situations always
"would you please put that in writing" is how you pull off insubordination without actually being insubordinate. Very useful when you are getting sketchy (whatever 'sketchy' might mean) instructions from someone who might not want to take responsibility for it later.

signed, a former union steward.
Have you been asked, as a federal worker, to do something you don't want to do? But they won't put it in writing?

DON'T DO IT.

If they're going to punish you? MAKE THEM PUT IT IN WRITING. ALL OF IT.

Document, document, document.

Act confused. Be confused! Go slow. Require clarity. Lots. Document

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

Again, I say this all the time, but the specific anti-trans rhetoric that pervades now *literally doesn't make sense* unless we magically popped into existence 10 or so years ago making new demands. It can all be traced directly back to this manufactured panic around that time.
If anyone claims that the current anti-trans panic was caused in any part by trans people advocating for our human rights, that person is lying through their teeth.

The religious right lost on marriage equality, and immediately started going after trans people instead. That's what happened.
