the United States is basically a test case for what happens when you try to create an autocracy while doing none of the things that autocracies do to keep themselves stable, combined with a population where the vast majority have no experience of what an autocracy is like
one thing which i think people don't really understand about autocratic government is that, like democracies, it also depends on public opinion (this is why China has some of the best public polling in the world) but when it gets unpopular, it black-bags protesters rather than having an election
the reason you don't want Obama to declare himself dictator and give you free health care is that your free health care then depends on Obama's willingness to continue giving you free health care and the army's willingness to keep saying that has to happen

There's not much to do in the middle of the night besides get lost in my own head, which pretty much contradicts what I've been working on in therapy. Not sure what the alternative is when the rest of the world is out of order though.
