This is Magnus. He just beat cancer. His family wrote the big news on their car and bought him balloons to celebrate. Magnus got so much love from strangers the whole way home. His human said, "I hope everyone has a Magnus in their lives, who shows them what determination and strength are." 14/10

"When senior leaders disparage legal oversight, sideline JAG officers, impede the ability of the press to report, or treat accountability as the enemy, they do more than risk unlawful action. They weaken the moral foundation that makes our military credible in the eyes of the American people...

The many monarchs of Europe, the slaver's Confederacy, the Kaiser, the Nazis, the Italian fascists, Imperial Japan and many more all assumed that because liberals value peace and human life, that they were weak and feckless and easily beaten.

Go look for them now.
I think fundamentally the problem with post liberal thinkers is that they seem to assume that vanquishing liberalism results in their enemies being converted or defeated and not becoming radicalized into enemies who no longer extend the mercies they once did.

I love subscribing to the new author notifications thing on Amazon. Then I delete the notification, walk to the bookshop over the road, and order it from the nice lady in there. Sorry for wasting your resources, Amazon!

What will happen is the same thing that happened when it turned out the Trump shooter was a disaffected young white man.

No corrections, no apologies, and within a month at most, they’ll be back to pretending that it was a radical trans leftist. Kirk was only ever a tool to them. So is his death.
If in fact killer’s hate emanated from Kirk’s right, not left, and from *inside* not outside their movement, then what happens next?

Few if any of those who immediately targeted the wrong people will apologize or retract, sadly. That’s the Roy Cohn/Trump way.

More interesting is whether… 6/x

More than likely this amateur, premature post by Kash Patel caused law enforcement to stand down, not lock down city exits, airports, etc. and helped the killer calmly leave. Cosplayers in charge put all of us at risk.

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

I wrote about the debate with the Jubilee fascists, the overall idea of the utility of debate and the alleged need for it in order to arrive at truth, and the malicious and corrosive effect this false idea actually has upon the discourse and society.

It is remarkable and astonishing that the entire apparatus of the Republican party -- the entire organization and every single person who is part of it -- has been converted into a cover-up operation to protect a single pedophile rapist.

Is that why these Republicans went into politics? Really?

Five years ago today, we lost one of my heroes, John Lewis. So much of what we take for granted too often today is as a result of his life’s work. We must resolve to make our collective memory of John Lewis a living, active one. We must finish that journey toward justice that he led for so long.

That bill passing is an awful thing. But if your biggest problem with it is the change to gambling taxes, it's probably time to do some soul searching.

A lot of people are going to be tortured and killed because of it, to start.

It's awful, but taxes aren't the worst part.
