I know a lot of you have already heard or read about BDS Movement's call against Microsoft, and felt weird and bad about it all, but decided to move forward as normal because of some degree of ambiguity.

"What service is Microsoft providing?"

Here it is, clear as day. A direct line to death.

We've acquired the historic game magazine Computer Entertainer.

As in, we got the rights. We own the magazine. And we're putting it into the Creative Commons for anyone to use for free.

Hey! New article! This one's about the history of first person shooters, what makes 'em work, and why I like the shooters I like. It's also me lamenting how they've died, and talking a bit about why I want to go ahead and make one.

first person shooters are extremely fun, but the industry rarely makes the ones i like anymore

RSS is the *real internet*
It's what really enables podcasts to exist, not Spotify.
Newsletter: In a media landscape dominated by algorithmic feeds that aim to manipulate and extract, sometimes the most radical thing you can do is choose to read what you want, when you want, without anyone watching over your shoulder.

Here’s how to use RSS.

Curate your own newspaper with RSS
Escape newsletter inbox chaos and algorithmic surveillance by building your own enshittification-proof newspaper from the writers you already read

Full employment reminded the bosses that they do not desire wealth above all else but power, and the base of that power is ~labor discipline~
i think the big middle event between george floyd protests and covid that accelerated this hard right turn in elite circles was tech employees using slack to stage walk-outs and force concessions from management. tech bosses got a first whiff of organized labor's power and started reading mein kampf
Only in America could a white man with a current net worth of $2 billion see himself as part of a victimized group. 🤦‍♂️

My unpopular but correct hot take is that more games should have director-controlled cameras
The static camera areas in Clair Obscur are breathtaking, and I’m ready to declare the world ready for a return to PSX-style static camera console RPGs.

Sunday discourse: Years ago, the former head of a major comic imprint moving into producing told me, “why comics? It’s a lesser medium.”

He couldn’t have been more wrong. I love TV. I love film.

But comics are uniquely potent. There are as magic as any form of storytelling in existence.

THE RISE OF END TIMES FASCISM

My first major piece of the new Trump era, co-written with @astra.bsky.social.

The governing ideology of the far right has become a
monstrous, supremacist survivalism.

Our task is to build a movement strong enough to stop them. www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i...
