I am a simple Mormon. I wake up every day, and then I put Zohran Mamdani’s name on the temple prayer roll

I’ve been teaching Sunday school in my ward this year & it’s my favorite calling I think I’ve ever had? Like, I get to write & teach my own lessons! Which means we spend Sunday school talking about Cornel West and Theodor Adorno and bell hooks and Richard Rorty

My Christmas lesson? It’s on Pasolini

I think Americans are realizing that democracy is a participation sport, and the the government is ours if we want it to be. I feel like we got complacent and hoped some other third party would do the work for us. Seems like we have to learn that lesson every generation.

it's utterly wild how the Heritage Foundation president talks about other people

if you found a guy talking like this outside, you'd probably call the cops

yes yes yes to all of this. material politics is the way forward and that doesn’t mean slogans it means the very difficult work of being a real presence in the lives of the people who you want to trust you.
It doesn’t matter what I think. Also, none of this would ever happen. But if I had a zillion dollars:

1. Run a “we do hard things” campaign across southern and rust belt states. Invest heavily in local, state and regional social infrastructure. Sponser later hours at a library, build a skate park…
If I were to sum up my advice to the Democratic party leadership about how to defeat Trumpism, it would be to set aside policy for now and focus instead on articulating a vision of what American society should look like and what role the US should play in a rapidly changing world today.

…etc etc etc tangible wins.

2. Stop playing around and invest in the GD South’s electoral infrastructure. Don’t just hold your nose for white sides. Hold them for annoying but fundamentally right minorities, women, queer people, disabled people etc.

The actual finding here is that a huge percentage of the population believes things that are not true. Democrats objectively did not spend significant time on climate change or LGBTQ issues in the last election campaign.
Duh. Those of us on the ground last year actually speaking with middle class/working class voters and who heard from these voters every single day the same - “Trump is an asshole, but Democrats are out of touch” - could’ve saved my new political party a lot of time & money producing this “report.”👇

There is very little of this from those of you who read us. Again, we don't put up with it. I am too old. There is a fight to be had, but I've seen more won back from greater opponents. People also used to understand that history seems to stand still then it moves all at once. You have to work -
The dooming on this site is getting out of control. Every time you post anything about politics some rando condescendingly wonders how you can't possibly know that elections are over and all hope is lost. If you've completely lost hope, I'm sorry, but shut the fuck up, OK? You're not helping.
