people are rightly laughing at this but this is key to understanding the depths of the conservative mind
“By the way, there’s been hundreds of thousands of these tickets. So obviously their system — the speed cameras — do not work,” declares Premier Doug Ford.

Ah, here’s the announcement via news release: "The Ontario government intends to introduce legislation next month that will ban the use of municipal automated speed enforcement cameras across the province, ensuring they are no longer used as a form of revenue.” news.ontario.ca/en/release/1...

Holyday on school food programs: "It’ll be interesting when they go to their first job, on their first day, and they sit down in the lunch room, and then turn and ask where their meal is, having not been taught through their life to look after themselves and prepare a meal.”

And @diannesaxe.bsky.social has rewarded them.

At this rate, it will be politically impossible to ever change any part of Toronto’s public realm from car domination.

Ms. Saxe’s main issues are active transportation and climate action. If she doesn’t stand up for reform, who will?

This has always been the conundrum of the left. It is rooted in the economics of a (shrinking) white working class manual labour, but culturally grounded in metropolitan progressives. Bridging this divide in a way that builds solidarity rather than pitting them against each other is the holy grail
You know what? Labour has to appeal to both slightly-reactionary provincials without degrees and to graphic designers and teachers. Anybody telling you that neither of these groups matter is an idiot.

Update to this: York University's @schulichschool.bsky.social is also distancing itself from Jamroz, saying that although he was a volunteer mentor at the school, he has not been one for several years — and the term Jamroz used to describe his involvement, "tenured mentor," doesn't exist there.

it was never about the money economy. MAGA wants segregation and slavery
Interesting that Trump’s economic approval has fallen to basically the worst of his career and his overall approval is right around where it always is. Maybe the entire phenomenon isn’t actually about the economy? Or maybe there’s much further to fall if / when things get worse. We’re gonna find out
