I went to my Congressman's local office today. First off, they were surprised that I was there. They said they had been getting phone calls, but I was the first walk-in. That said, the phones were not ringing off the hook. If the DC phone lines are busy, try calling the local office.

My dad was tortured by the Gestapo for 4 days and thrown in a concentration camp for being in the Norwegian Resistance. Growing up, he would tell me things he learned in the Resistance. I thought, I'm never going to need this stuff. Here's some of those things #Thread

My organization is aware Black and other minority-owned companies are still on the shelves. We Are Somebody aims to make sure we urge those participating in the boycott to support these companies, preferably by buying from them directly.

Broadly, the Left should be supporting the boycott on Target. People are organizing outside of electoral politics to impact a giant corporation by withholding their money.

It’s a strike, but for consumers. It’s working class empowerment.

There must be solidarity.

Trump doesn't care that POTUS cannot amend the Constitution—he'll try to end birthright citizenship anyway.

He doesn't care that POTUS cannot fire Inspectors General—he'll try to fire them anyway.

He doesn't care that POTUS cannot repeal legislation—he'll try to repeal civil rights it anyway.

Trump has deployed active military to help round up migrants and put them into detention camps.

The military forced us out of our homes at gunpoint in 1942 because we were considered possibly disloyal Americans. They sent us to internment camps for four years.

History is repeating. Pay attention.

So obviously Usha Vance wouldn't retroactively lose citizenship if this unconstitutional Trump exec order on birthright citizenship is able to be enforced.

But out of interest, *were* Usha's parents US citizens or Green Card holders when she was born in 1986? Anyone asked them?

I do believe in a diversity of tactics but ultimately I think we need to recognize that our goal needs to be the actual end of capitalism and that merely reinstating earlier checks on it that already failed will not be sufficient
Ok. Let’s say we succeed all this (extremely unlikely) and get back to pre citizens united

We still will have a capitalist class.
The capitalist class will still seek to get back to the same thing, always, because their material conditions compel them to maximize profits by influencing politics.
Yes it's very hard and those in power will generally fight against change.

But it is possible, aipac had to spend millions against candidates and didn't succeed everywhere. Many democrats even generic democrats want to get $ out of politics like it was pre citizens united.
