Why is anyone allowed to call these tools “intelligence”? Surely advertising standards should intervene. It’s machine learning, which is really just advanced statistics. It’s not intelligent, and it can’t be trusted to get the sense of a text right. Calling it intelligence is dangerously seductive.

Remembering, as one does, that the last time there was a citywide manhunt the suspect called in his location because he got bored, but then left because the NYPD took too long to get there and was called in by a bodega worker who saw him leaving. The NYPD was busting up a homeless camp a block away.
