Another framing of the toxic CEO problem - because they've never worked in a biz and learned it from bottom to top, they've never experienced the full range of human skill, craft, expertise and personality that MAKES the biz work ... Hence IMHO having a deeply under-developed appreciation for people
this is true, and it’s true bc the CEO role has become what i have been thinking of as “toxically professionalized.”

they don’t work in a biz and learn it bottom to top. they get an mba.

reading this 1965 book with interviews of ad execs who started out as copywriters makes me sad bc they GET IT

🚨 Our new investigation out today reveals how thousands of people who've taken their bosses to employment tribunals & won, never got paid, even after they approached the government for help.

This has serious implications for the Employment rights bill.

This is an off-the-cuff reckon, but it feels very different to looking back at, say, Cold War-era dramas, in which everything was always on the brink, pulled back at the last minute. Everything existed in tension rather than in escalation.

The Emperor's New Groove walked so that KPop Demon Hunters could run
I find it funny when an animated movie for an original IP that wasn't meant to be a big deal ends up making bank, and then every executive is left wondering how it happened. The answer is then always that the movie had a coherent and well-crafted story, looked cool, and had good music. Every time.

Of the scant handful of things I miss about living in LA, this is probably number 3
From the position of someone living in California, where you can order online huckleberry chewy sweets, blood orange cardamom fizzy drinks or Aperol spritz-alike bottled beverages, all with THC in them, and have them delivered to your front door in thirty minutes, this whole thing looks insane.
With three of Britain's most senior police officers calling for a tougher line on use of the drug, what do Britons think?

Police aren't tough enough on cannabis: 30%
Police are too tough: 23%
About right: 27%
