I really love a light source and other artist's abilities to make the viewer feel emersed in a time and place. So I'm playing with colors and glow a bit rather than working completely flat. (I still love experimenting, learning and changing)

There's a lot happening here, and a lot of it is JUST REALLY WEIRD in a way that most writers (including myself) don't dare to, or maybe don't care to dare to imagine! This book makes it seem like being infected by a planetful of spores and/or or a sporeful of a planetoid is ... AWESOME?? It is so!

One of the things I've always admired about Bogi's writing (yes even before we got together, which was forever ago) is the sheer cheerful wildness of their imagination. This book showcases it, and then some.

SPORES! Linguistics! A trans Chassidic shapechanger! A grumpy insectoid grandma! Politics!

#34: Lake Mungo

Shocked, as a horror fan, that I hadn’t seen this before. Lake Mungo spooks you out in an understated way for much of the runtime, before pulling the rug in an incredibly well-earned jump. Genuinely terrifying and — even more so — genuinely tragic. Best horror I’ve watched in years.

Work! Work is the answer! Work!
I like this story now. I'd been a bit lazy in my sword & sorcery; I just had to apply an ethic from my historical fiction
(that boils down to 'work')
(do you know how many drafts I did of Amgalant)

OMG I love this book.
The first scene might be Waste Flowers, if you'll excuse me, with a derelict wall, nomads who eschew it, and phantom bells of camels.
Then we reach the town of Proof Rock which, being KJ Bishop, you know at once is Prufrock.
No wonder I wanted to write this book when I met it.
