Excellent piece.

Shhh, don't tell anybody, but I'm awake.

See, it's got an "a" in front, hiding the "w", and the "o" pretends that it's another "a".

It's like wearing camo during office hours ... totally invisible.

Trump on AI: "You can't go through 50 states. You have to get one approval. 50 is a disaster. Because you'll have one woke state and you'll have to do all woke. You'll be back in the woke business. We don't have woke anymore in this country. It's virtually illegal. You'll have a couple of wokesters"

This is a really interesting article about a horrifying distortion of sign language happening in the UK, and which its creators are now trying to export to other countries and their sign languages

Learn actual sign languages from Deaf people, not from hearing people making their own weird versions!

i find it so off-putting when you watch journalists interviewing politicians and you can tell they’re friendly, all in a big club that doesn’t serve the public’s interests. access journalism is the opposite of accountability journalism.

Life under the new DOJ/K:

JUDGE: So, I’m looking at your grand jury transcript, and I’m not seeing the part where they agreed to indict the defendant. What happened to that part?

PROSECUTOR: Oh, yeah. We didn’t do that part this time, Your Honor.

So it turns out the mendacity is actually exceeded by the incompetence. Good to know.
NEWS: During a hearing in federal court in VA, prosecutors confirmed that the operative indictment in the case against James Comey was never shown to or voted on by the entire grand jury before it was presented in open court.

Defense counsel argued that’s a complete bar to further prosecution

Republicans always pretend they're just responding to mean old Democrats. Secure in playing the victim, they attack wantonly, without fear of reprisal beyond scattered attacks they can then use as evidence of how mean Democrats are.
So, when Democrats finally DO hit back hard... oh lordy!
one thing i think is true is that republicans assumed that democrats would not respond in kind and that the forceful pushback spooked them (a lesson to learn here, perhaps)
Trump's corrupt scheme to rig 2026 is suddenly falling apart:

*Court strikes down Texas GOP gerrymander
*Indiana GOP lacks votes to redraw map
*Big Dem win in Virginia could give Ds more seats

In a civilized country, Trump's treatment of women reporters would drop his approvals so low that he'd be forced to leave office.

"in 2030, Trump won't be around" was in part a note to the Senators next up in 2030 that voting no could be shooting themselves in the foot, and then once they all let their colleagues they were voting their self-interest, any inclination to be on the losing side of the Senate vote evaporated.
After all the Trump Administration fuss and pressure and lying about the Epstein Files, the vote to release them just slid through the Senate by unanimous consent! Talk about a whimper.

1. That plant was initiated under Biden, not Trump.
2. It's tied to EVs, which Trump calls a hoax.
3. Trump's "big, beautiful bill" will kill thousands of EV jobs.

Facts matter.

This piece is important. It is also a great (annoyingly great) example of what a properly resourced team of journalists can do. There are five bylines and almost 20 additional reporting credits on this piece. I've wanted to write this story for months but... do not have that many colleagues
The cost of Trump's immigration surge: Stalled investigations into child sexual abuse, Iranian oil smuggling and human trafficking, among others. My latest piece is a big team effort on how DHS has been transformed into the Department of Deportation.

It’s the media’s version of a “pardon” when news outlets fail to remind the public of past crimes by Trump and his mischief makers such as Steve Bannon.
