You'd think they looked at Joe Root and conclude 'Hmm, that works. I'll copy him.' Wouldn't you?

Relieved and happy for Joe Root. What would we do without him? #TheAshes

I had an MRI, but I don't know what for. I am extremely intelligent.
TRUMP: If they want to release my MRI it's ok w/me. It's perfect like my phone call where I got impeached

Q: What part of your body were they were looking at?

TRUMP: I have no idea. It was just an MRI. It wasn't the brain bc I took a cognitive test & aced it, which you would be incapable of doing

With the anniversary of Gary Speed’s death this week, I’m reminded of the ball boy at Sheffield Utd who said he was the only player who always said “thank you” when they threw him the ball. I know it’s a little, simple thing, but it does speak volumes about who he was.

What we're seeing is exactly what we saw in the late 1940s, the late 1960s and the mid- to late 1970s: a concerted and hysterical campaign to delegitimise a Labour government, and indeed the very idea of Labour governments at all.

Incredible sentence in this article:

"I remain open to vigorous discussions and debate,” Prasad wrote, reportedly adding that staff who did not agree with the core principles of his new approach should submit their resignations.
Allegedly Prasad is now going to put limits on how many vaccines can be given simultaneously, re assess annual flu-shot policies, change the process for vax approval to be longer and demand tight restrictions on pregnant women being able to have any vaccines 🧪🧵#PublicHealth

The value of my property has only increased by 99,900% to £4m since I bought it for £4,000 in 1970 and now I have to find an extra £5,000 per year. Oh woe is me, what can I possibly do? FFS.
I know people like this and frankly it's starting to piss me off. The country is not in the best state, and they (and I) are in the best position to contribute more without really noticing. But no, in the words of Stewart Lee 'the money is mine'.

England lost a wicket every 20.25 balls across their two innings. With Australia missing two of their first-choice pace bowlers. Frankly pathetic. #TheAshes

Not the first to make this point. But there is a tyrant in charge of another country who is accused of being heavily linked to a paedophile sex ring - and supposed ‘patriots’ in this country are passionately willing him to take down our national broadcaster. Madness.

"Was it your brain?"
Trump: I had an MRI and the result was outstanding.

Reporter: Was it your brain?

Trump: I have no idea what they analyzed, but whatever they analyzed, they analyzed it well.

I think this is a key point re. BBC coverage of Trump - the expectation from some on the Right that the BBC should shift the goalposts towards a Trumpian pov regardless of democratic norms.
But there's also flipside of this: overcorrection. The BBC has been trying desperately to show it *isn't* biased. There's obviously a notion there of "balance" which doesn't mean "neutral" or "objective", but trying to find a middle ground, or bothsidesing.

IL rightly condemns this example here:

The Prescott Splice. Incredible.
Judge for yourself: did the dossier accusing the BBC of doctoring a Trump quote…doctor a Trump quote?
Left: Donald Trump’s Jan 6th quote, as presented in the dossier that brought down two BBC bosses

Right: What Donald Trump actually said.
