Obscenely high gas prices are slowly strangling energy intensive manufacturing in Australia

A small number of companies control the gas market & force prices up to the detriment of all gas & electricity consumers

It's way past time for domestic gas reservation

'Obscenely expensive' wholesale gas prices driving manufacturing offshore
Australia has a wealth of coal and gas resources as well as renewable energy, so why are energy costs so high — especially for manufacturers?

The fossil fuel sector is using “tobacco industry tactics” to maintain a bipartisan commitment to supporting gas expansion

“gas has become the lifeline that vaping was for the tobacco industry"

Well, fossil CO2 emissions in the last 10 years have gone down

Inpex quietly admitted that its Ichthys LNG project drastically underreported its emissions of the cancer-causing chemical benzene by more than 13,000%.

The gas industry is continuing to harm our health and our climate, yet our governments are failing to act.

Santos has been an awful investment
It has delivered a total return (inc. dividends) of -2.1 per cent over the past three years, while the MSCI world energy index (ex Australia) has delivered 20.9 per cent.
Questions are being asked of the validity of their accounts

Here’s the next point of tension between Santos and its investors
Beyond the leadership and governance questions that have followed the CFO’s exit is an issue that has burned brightly over the company for years: underperformance.

With all the palava over yet another failed takeover offer for Santos, it can't go unnoticed that the Chief financial officer has resigned.
It all looks distinctly smelly.
The market should concentrate on the carrying value of assets.
Are there big write-offs in the pipeline?
