“challenge scientific orthodoxy” is a choice, over “promote quackery”, but I’m sure @nytimes.com knows that and is comfortable normalizing promoting quackery.
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

Does this mean that NY gets to keep all of its tax dollars? Or do we still have to share the wealth with red states?
BREAKING: The House of Representatives voted 285–98 in favor of a resolution condemning socialism.

Eighty-six Democrats joined Republicans in supporting the measure, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

WFUV (at Fordham) is a tremendous station. So too is WFMU, which is. It a college station (anymore).

The @nytimes.com local coverage continues to be a disgrace (it was once tremendous too).
Someone on the @wfmu.bsky.social comments board just called attn to this article about AI and college radio, in which the author suggests WFMU is a college radio station based at ... Fordham? Did AI write the article?

Jay Jacobs is going cost Dems the 2026 House. He’s done it before.
Has New York Democratic Party chairman Jay Jacobs resigned over Mamdani yet? I hope he hasn't, so that he can instead resign over *improving Republican margins over Trump 2024 in an anti-Republican wave election*. Trump won Nassau by just 4%—now look at this bloodbath

Bank note guy never misses an angle!

Seriously, follow him.
In honor of the not guilty verdict in Sean Dunn’s Sandwichgate trial, here is a note from Sandwich, NH made by Waterman Ormsby in his elaborate unit system of bank note design. Carroll County Bank, Sandwich, NH, $1, Jan 1, 1855. 🗃️

Hard to imagine Brad and Curtis in the same breath, but this works. Still very proud to have supported @bradlander.bsky.social in the primary and immensely proud of how he handled defeat and kept the good fight going.
Between Sliwa and Brad Lander probably the best thing you can do as a public figure right now (even if you’re odious! like Curtis!) is lose gracefully being exactly who you are. People are desperate for dignity to make a comeback and they’ll reward you later.

I don’t understand why people think that a guy who doesn’t live in the city, hasn’t lived in the city in 25 years, actively tried to undermine the city in his three terms as governor, and genuinely seems to hate just about everything about the city would make a bad mayor.
It’s worth considering how an Andrew Cuomo mayoralty would objectively be a disaster and everybody knows it—especially his backers. But they don’t give a shit about the day after, only thwarting the rise of any potential alternative. A striking demonstration of the nihilism of the political centre.
