I finally am able to collect thoughts on my sports: 1. What was de Jager thinking? Good for the straight red & fuck the 20 minute red card. 2. Rybakina is going to write a book abt her abuse in 5 years & I feel terrible for her. Riyadh finals are shit. 3. Wales need a defense.

"Criminals posing as US immigration officers have carried out robberies, kidnappings, and sexual assaults in several states" according to an FBI bulletin.

Which, of course, gives ICE cover to commit the same crimes.

In a bulletin to law enforcement agencies, the FBI said criminal impersonators are exploiting ICE’s image and urged nationwide coordination to distinguish real operations from fakes.

Young men numbers, since a few folks are asking:

bsky.app/profile/sant...
Republicans thought they had a permanent hold over young men. They didn't.

Spanberger wins men 18-29 by 14%, Sherrill by 10%, and Mamdani by a stunning 40%.

WOW. 81% of women 18-29 voted for Mamdani, 80% for Sherril, and 78% for Spanberger.

This is a good point but also 1. Being the mayor of London or NYC is not the same. They’re 2 v. different jobs in v. different countries. 2. Mamdani sees himself in a v. NYC culturally specific way as does Khan. You couldn’t switch the campaigns & win. 3. They’re both different kinds of Muslims.
While it is significant that New York can elect a Mayor who is & so identifies as an immigrant leader, the tendency to conflate Zohran Mamdani & Sadiq Khan as Mayors who are Muslim in high profile national/global cities (by opponents but also fans + media) overlooks significant contrasts
Mamdani: "New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight, led by an immigrant."

Cheney didn’t come out of Christian conservatism. He famously was a secular pro-abortion Republican who did believe that the US should freely crush any perceived threat & whatever got in the way of said threat should be crushed too. All of this hyperbole masks what he really did which is gift ppl…
"Bury him face down." This barn burner of an obit might feel hyperbolic to people who entered the world in the wake of 9/11; it's not. Cheney was one of the architects of today's American Christian conservatism. He was directly responsible for millions of deaths. Salt the earth where he's buried.

Ooh typo ‘going the way of Robbie Williams’career”
The US is the biggest sports market in the world so wanting to break there makes sense. But the strategy is extremely poor. And it’s all gone & goi bc to continue to go the way of Robbie Williams’ career. 1. What has been successful is 7s. But no one wants to capitalize not entirely sure why not?..
