The images detached from every aspect of life merge into a common stream in which the unity of life can no longer be recovered. Fragmented views of reality regroup themselves into a new unity as a separate pseudo-world that can only be looked at.

My dad always said his earliest memory was coming back from the market with his granny on the bus, back when proper cockney grannies bought their eels live, and one of them escaped and the conductor was chasing it up the aisle.

When we were younger "COVID" came
And we all thought it was a shame
We didn't stop our daily tasks, we simply did them wearing masks
Though times were hard, we didn't feel shitty
Our "pin-up" he was called Chris Whitty
Made our own fun, didn't whine,
We'd cancel folk we found online...

Glimpses of reality invade the dream-life of the Nation. The walls between the worlds are crumbling. Signs of the End Times.
I just spotted a Twix in Casualty. I know this isn’t going to make the news but I haven’t missed an episode since 1997 and I’ve never seen a branded food product on the show. They go out of their way to make fake chocco labels for the chocolate in the vending machine. This Twix thing is enormous.

Sometimes, your kids are really cute and charming, other times they sit there very quietly and then whisper to themselves "I died in 1875".

Apparently it's all a massive con anyway. As the days get longer, it turns out the nights get shorter BY EXACTLY THE SAME AMOUNT, meaning that in total we're no better off than we were before.

This guy's obviously never read that paper where they use Fourier Analysis to map a Mornington-complete network onto any public transport system above a certain threshold (Pₘ) of complexity.

If you’re a creator or work in the creative industries or otherwise have a heart, then please add your voice to this UK Gov consultation on AI and Copyright. I said ‘freelance’ for company and ‘unsure’ for super-granular legal stuff but made my voice heard. You can too. www.gov.uk/government/c...
Copyright and Artificial Intelligence
This consultation seeks views on how the government can ensure the UK’s legal framework for AI and copyright supports the UK creative industries and AI sector together.

Dreamed I went to a Sports Direct in Coventry to see Werner Herzog give a talk, but when I got there, he was just sitting in a wingback chair, furiously wanking with his trousers round his ankles & castigating the audience for moral weakness when they started to leave

Aside from the complete moral and aesthetic failure this represents, I'm also thinking that publishing a lot of books that no-one in your company's even read seems like a huge legal risk. How do they check for libellous or illegal content?
Why? Who is this meant to be good for? Nobody wants your shit AI books, never mind 8,000 in a year. Just a terrible idea and a horrible road the publishing industry is heading down.

Bluesky is going to be great up to the point where its VC backers want to realise some return on their investment, at which point it will rapidly pivot to being as shit as everything else. What we're enjoying here is a brief holiday while no-one's trying to turn us into product.
