I've followed a lot of hip-hop writers, but as someone who will be celebrating their 20th (!) year in Boston next year. I definitely recommend @dartadams.bsky.social for his knowledge about hip-hop in general, and Boston's own scene in particular. My perspective is always as an outsider.

65 years ago on Nov. 14, little Ruby Bridges was escorted into an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. Norman Rockwell, renowned for blissful depictions of Americana, did this remarkable painting for Look magazine. Printed as a double page, over-size spread, it's his masterpiece.

It’s useful for people of my generation to be reminded that this wasn’t that long ago. Ruby Bridges isn’t just still alive—she’s only 71, not ancient!

It still strikes me that a big part of what analytics said about sports is that the top athletes and coaches in the world were too cautious, not aggressive enough: Shooting 3s over mid range, going for it in 4th down, no bunts, for example.

SNAP is probably the most effective federal dollar we spend in terms of long term domestic economic outcomes.

that isn’t why you should support it; you should support it because it is a moral imperative to feed the hungry.

but it’s why even a growth-oriented ghoul shouldn’t oppose it.
