I've followed a lot of hip-hop writers, but as someone who will be celebrating their 20th (!) year in Boston next year. I definitely recommend @dartadams.bsky.social for his knowledge about hip-hop in general, and Boston's own scene in particular. My perspective is always as an outsider.

Yes, but when things are going well (we're on an 8-0 run!), most do not want to change anything...

My basketball opinion is too many coaches call timeouts because it feels like you have to call a timeout rather than because they have a solution to stop whatever is going wrong (which often is normal variance; team makes three shots in a row, you miss two, & it's an 8-0 run so you call TO).

Speaking from a basketball free-throw shooter perspective, heart rate and breathing rate tend to have a greater negative effect. Players tend to rush when nervous. Timeouts allow them to calm down, control their breathing, slow their heart rate, & take their time, fixating on the target longer.
