A New Form of Global Apartheid Aims to Control Other People’s Movements
Forcing people to move or prohibiting their mobility are two sides of the same colonial or neocolonial coin.

Every day I come just a little bit closer to destroying every social media account I have and regaining a bit of my sanity. Maybe I should just skip ahead to the finish line.

JFC this would likely destabilize the entire region.
The Pentagon's top spokesman on Friday denied a report that the U.S. is considering the withdrawal of thousands of U.S. troops from South Korea, in a move that would unnerve Washington's allies in Asia, including Japan.
Pentagon denies report of U.S. troop withdrawal plan for South Korea
The denial came after The Wall Street Journal reported that the White House is considering pulling out roughly 4,500 troops and relocating them.

This piece, while arguably too long and too muddled for someone (me) who's deeply versed in the details of these issues, lands some devastating blows, summed up in this passage.

James Comer is a stupid, bootlicking, fascist. I'll be glad when he gets what all fascists deserve.
Chair Comer denied our request for an official trip to El Salvador to advocate for due process and the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Pretty shameful.

Good thing I don’t need Comer’s permission to get on a plane.

This may have been true before January 20, 2025. Now it seems, ICE detains whoever “looks like someone they don’t want in the country” or someone with tattoos.

A co-worker of mine (who is a judge), traveled by train from Montana to North Dakota for work this week. The train made a stop in Havre, MT, where ICE agents—armed and dressed in full military-style tactical gear—boarded the train.

Let’s be clear. When the President defies the Supreme Court, it is the role of Congress to remove him from office. Full stop.

An unappreciated part of this story: the person doing the arrest wasn't an ICE agent, it was an ATF agent.

According to Reuters, 4 out of every 5 ATF agents has been reassigned to do immigration enforcement. So it's a great time to be a gun runner in the United States.

why is *every* newspaper/programme running with the headline "tariffs are paused" when they haven't been.

What's happened is that every country (except China) gets a flat rate of 10% for 90 days.

I think it's very important to note that when you want to run human misery like a business--a business based on rounding up people to ship them to a country they aren't from to work in forced labor camps--you're a slaver.

stop calling things deportation just because they call it deportation.

-You cannot legally deport people without due process.

-You cannot legally deport citizens.

-They are defining down deportation to break the law.

Let me step back and explain this a bit. I'm a habeas expert. A habeas petition can only be filed in the federal district where the petitioner is at the moment of filing. So if you live in Philly, get abducted in Philly, then get whisked immediately to Louisiana before you can file your petition ...
