Major public transport projects at risk as Govt priority shifts to roads; funding committed to Galway’s second ring road with “€1bn+” cost
Under pressure from rural TDs supporting it, the Government is shifting its transport spending priorities from sustainable transport to road building -- the funding ratio between public transport and roads is set to change from 2:1 to close to 1:1. Between 2026 and 2030, public transport is expected to get €10.1 billion, while roads is to get €9.7 billion, while active travel and greenways are expected to get €1.8 billion.

Le Monde has a long article describing the hellish life of Nicolas Guillou, a French judge at the ICC in The Hague, due to U.S. sanctions punishing him for authorizing arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant for war crimes in Gaza. Guillou's daily existence has been transformed into a Kafkaesque nightmare. He cannot: open or maintain accounts with Google, Amazon, Apple, or any US company; make hotel reservations (Expedia canceled his booking in France hours after he made it); conduct online commerce, since he can't know if the packaging is American; use any major credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex are all American); access normal banking services, even with non-American banks, as banks worldwide close sanctioned accounts; conduct virtually any financial transaction. He describes it as being "economically banned across most of the planet," including in his own country, France, and where he works, the Netherlands. That's the real shocking aspect of this: the Americans are: - punishing a European citizen - for doing his job in Europe - applying laws Europe officially supports - at an institution based in Europe - that Europe helped create and fund and Europe is not only doing essentially nothing to protect him, they're actively enforcing America's sanctions against their own citizen - European banks closing his accounts, European companies refusing him service, European institutions standing by while Washington destroys a European judge's life on European soil. Again, in a normal world, European leaders and citizens should be absolutely outraged about this. But we've so normalized the hollowing out of European sovereignty that the sight of a European citizen being economically executed on European soil for upholding European law is treated, at best, as an unfortunate technical complication in transatlantic [further text missing]

I did a tour of the UN building in 2005. The guide remarked on the expense of maintaining the building and the main chamber roof was leaking. All due to funding issues. Not surprised that the equipment wasn’t functioning.

An American university launches an investigation into an archaeology professor suspected of being an "antifa" The American Marshall University has announced that it is launching an in-depth investigation into the suspicious activities of one of its now deceased teachers, a renowned world of archaeology, Dr. Henry Jones. Under the guise of a very ordinary professor of archaeology and a fan of rare artifacts, he would have been at the center of a radical ultra-left cell, called "Antifa" and would have operated in Europe, Asia and the United States between the 1930s and the late sixties. "It seems to have radicalized on its own but it is possible that there are accomplices," said a spokesman for the university who announced that it would collaborate with the authorities and Donald Trump's government. "We know that he said in front of witnesses, "the Nazis, I hate these guys" it's a radical hate speech," said Laura Loomer, a conservative columnist. Under the guise of a very ordinary professor of archaeology and a fan of rare artifacts, he would have been at the center of a radical ultra-left cell, called "Antifa" and would have operated in Europe, Asia and the United States between the 1930s and the late sixties. Among the accomplices identified would be an Egyptian immigrant already involved in the looting of the archaeological site of Tanis in Egypt in 1936. The former dean of the university, Marcus Brody or a Chinese citizen who would have animated a clandestine cell under the name of "Demi-Lune", as well as the professor's own wife would be the other occult members of this Antifa group. It is proven that Professor Jones physically attacked several Reich soldiers in the Egyptian desert and Jordan in 1938. In addition, he has long been the main suspect in the case of the disappearance of pro-Nazi American businessman Walter Donovan. The former radicalized leftist archaeology teacher would have remained a fervent antifa until the end of his life, not hesitating to proclaim in front of his students: "The Nazis? Their place is in a museum!”
