What a wildly stupid idea.

Mandatory helmets and high viz is a proven remedy to reduce the number of people cycling. It effectively kills off things like Dublin Bikes.

That's why no other EU country does anything like this. Pure madness.

I am sure that Irish politicians are staying on X so they don’t miss out on being falsely included in the Epstein files … that’s ground you don’t want to cede.
Some people have taken the opportunity to spread false allegations about notable figures in Irish public life, including U2 singer Bono, Taoiseach Micheál Martin and former justice minister Alan Shatter.

Even in good times , I fail to see why we would entertain this. If we have to apply for visas to visit the USA then so be it.

Worth bearing in mind as the Irish state attempts to legalise wide ranging facial recognition by police.
A Minnesota woman observing ICE agents in her car was cornered on one-way streets. An agent approached, called her by name—citing facial recognition. Days later, her Global Entry and TSA privileges were revoked, with no explanation.

I think we have a science doesn’t suit my agenda and the poor choices of Government minister here.

Irish government announces interception reform plans to:

* Extend interception to OTT services (WhatsApp, etc.);
* Legislate for IMSI catchers; and
* Legalise spyware as an alternative form of interception.

Announcement very vague on e2e encryption; seems to intend to require backdoors.

In Dublin, on Fenian Street, there's a factory that makes child sex abuse material.

You can pay it money, as a subscription, and that's one of the services it offers. This doesn't happen by mistake or because you've tricked or hacked the system.

It’s a feature.
