We are living at a time when university leadership amplifies anti-intellectual tropes and technologies

These are very troubling times

RIP Texas A&M

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

Capitalism is when innovation*.

*Making superficial adjustments which enables the discontinuation of the previous model so that the product is; less repairable, made of cheaper materials, more prone to failure, and ultimately quicker to replacement.

Everything in this world is pretty much doodoo caca except videos of little kids getting a puppy & crying with happiness about it. That’s still pretty good.

She sums up what I think of about pretty much all mega wealthy people: why are they SO MISERABLE. Endlessly chasing $4 more, never a moment of joy.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Andrew Otazo has plucked, bagged, heaved and hauled more than 17 tons of trash from the mangroves in Florida.

Every piece of garbage he removes reclaims space for what should be there: bird nesting grounds and fish nurseries. https://wapo.st/4oS36Vx

"who radicalized you"

Nothing radicalized me, I was born with basic empathy. The world decided that was radical.

The more emails I get from campus leaders that are very obviously written by generative AI, the further into despair I fall.

It's so funny how we all have a device with capabilities such as "Essentially Infinite Knowledge" and "More Art Than You can Ever Appreciate" but the people who make the device and its software only ever want us to use the "Brain Disintegrator 3000" and "Involuntary Mass Surveillance Node" functions

Consistently getting communications from VPs (ie people making 2-3x my salary) that are very obviously from chatgpt is … a bit enraging. 6-figures and y’all can’t even write an email?!

I work on a college campus so I am ostensibly surrounded by only adults so tell me why I consistently encounter unflushed toilets. People have no home training. Even with an automatic flush YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE.

You don't have to judge Columbus by the standards of today. His tenure as governor of Hispaniola was so horrific that he was dragged back to Spain in chains to answer for his many crimes.

Plus he never set foot on any land that would ever be a part of the United States of America.
