At Genesis 3, I had been traveling with a trans girl from my region who had come out to me privately before we left for California, but not publicly, and wanted to change that by joining Smash Sisters. She was quite a bit younger than most of the other entrants, and I remember her being a bit nervous or shy about her plan — as anyone in her shoes would be, really — so I agreed to sign her up to the Friday draft crew event and handle any conversations about it on her behalf. I took one of the organizers aside, whom I was already friends with, and gestured toward my travel companion to ask if she could join. They pretty quickly realized the subtext of what I was asking and their face lit right up as they told me absolutely, they’d add her to the signup sheet. When she sat down to play her first match, our hotelmates pulled me aside and asked “is <friend’s name> trans?”, I nodded, and then right away they took it upon themselves to become her cheering squad for the rest of her match. They made damn sure she knew she belonged there with her new big sisters.

In the 2010s, the Icelandic tv station Channel 2 accidentally added subtitles from a gritty crime drama to an episode of Teletubbies.

I have translated some of the highlights
A screenshot of Lala and Po from the teletubbies. The screenshot is clearly taken from someone's phone, as the borders of the tv can be seen, as well as glimpses into the apartment behind them. I woke up this morning with toxic godzilla yuri in my head
Godzilla and king ghidora are depicted as monster women arguing with homoerotic subtext. Part of the issue is that those most actively protesting and leading mutual aid are women and gender non-conforming people. Both groups are illegible to many as protesters. This helps explain the invisibilization of current protests and resistance.
