Obviously I am really high.
Love ending a long day driving by ending in a crypt-cold hotel room. Thanks #Marriott.

Why hasn't anyone tried rotating offensive lineman the way teams rotate defensive lineman?

We have apple trees with barely a leaf left on them, but lots of apples still clinging on. They're providing a bit of much-needed grub for the birds though, as you can see from the top of that apple.

This is who it was:

Why do they still use the sound effect of an actual handset being replaced on movies to indicate a hang up? Like half the people alive have never heard that sound in real life.

"If we're nice to Hitler he won't bomb us!" - Andrew "Chamberlain" Cuomo, probably.
This isn't a closing election argument, it's Vidkun Quisling explaining why surrender is better than resistance.

I grew some weed from a seed pack I picked at NECANN or something a bunch of years ago - one outdoors, and one indoors. No clue what they are called - all I remember is they were something from the HSO 10,000 plant pheno hunt thing. Anyway, the indoor one reeks like menthol.

I am reminded of the "sci fi" book "Heavy Weather" by Bruce Sterling.
As climate change super-sizes our storms, should our categories reflect that?

Thoughtful comments and discussion (all too rare today) from @weatherprof.bsky.social, @michaelemann.bsky.social, myself and others.

Check it out and LMK - what do YOU think?
Category 6 is the new hurricane normal, say scientists
Human-caused climate change is making major hurricanes like Melissa much stronger, faster and ultimately more life-threatening

Loving the speedrun to shithole country status.
A Nature poll found that 75% of U.S. researchers are considering leaving the country.

Guyz, even the *historians* are leaving or contemplating / likely to go. Including, at least 3 historians that I know of in my subfield. 😢

If you are both a D&D player and a fantasy reader, which one did you start first?

I read a series by Lloyd Alexander in 3rd or 4th grade. That + Star Wars had me hooked on fantasy/knight type stuff. D&D found me in 6th grade.

But if the President can raise taxes because an advert annoyed him, without even consulting Congress, then the US constitution is simply not functioning as intended.

The only proper response from any politician asked if they are planning to run for president in 2028 is, "I am 100% focused on ensuring there IS a presidential election in 2028."

In my junior high school we dig a huge block on slavery. One of the things that stuck out to me at the time was the description between long packing and short packing a slave ship.

I am reminded of this reading about migrants being taken around the world handcuffed and chained.

I've lovingly edited one of my lino prints to convert it into a new shirt design, my first in a year! About time, right?
I decided to put this one on a sweatshirt too, just in time for the cool weather ☕

None of us can ever, or should ever feel we have to, do it alone.

1 of the most effective things we can do is encourage others to join us. The more picking up #litter every day in the same area, the bigger the impact as then it actually reduces the amount dropped. #dogsofbluesky

We should just start referring to Justices as "Dukes," senators as "Earls," and congresspersons as "Barons." Spitefully, of course.

SCOTUS allows for legalized sports gambling in 2018.

Ads for sports betting sites like BetMGM, starring celebs like Kevin Hart and Jamie Foxx, tell millions of people every night to place a bet.

Who would have guessed this would have been a problem?
