I really needed to watch that video so I could identify fake writing. Some of these tells I didn't know about!
finally sat down to listen to the new season of my fav podcast High Strange- a scifi podcast that presents itself as interviews with UFO witnesses- and after 15 minutes of it I could tell the majority of this was written by chat gpt and my disappointment is fucking immeasurable

it's easy to tell:

One thing I've noticed lately is while small businesses - artists, creatives, small restaurants, suppliers that work with small businesses (and I mean SMALL, not these millions+ dollar businesses) have tried to not raise prices until they HAD to.
While big corps were the very first to raise prices

Shipstation offers the option to ship to Canada with a flat rate pre-paid shipping duties fee of $9.95, so I made a new option at checkout for shipments to Canada that include this! I hope this makes orders going to Canada much easier to receive & less expensive. :)

Uggh... the print shop I use for my LE prints had to raise their prices because of tariffs.
What was already a small margin for my high-end prints has just become smaller. I'm not going to up my prices for them yet... I'm hoping to get my own printer set up, but the maintenance has made me hesitate

First Newsletter of 2026 is out! 🎉
I decided to copy it over to the blog on my website to make it easy to read and find.
I'm also wondering - are you more likely to check my blog than to check Patreon for public posts?

Aw crap, I totally forgot the Superbowl was today and I sent out my first newsletter of the year during the half time show that everyone was probably watching lol.

Timing was a little bad, but at least I did it?

Whenever I'm planning a new painting I feel like I'm shopping through my reference folders with unlimited budget.

Spent today getting the order in for the next batch of open edition prints, then dropped off our ballots and picked up street tacos. No pic of my tacos, but take a look at the sheer mass (or rather density perhaps?) of this burrito my husband ordered

The thing is, you can sit at a piano for the first time and have fun. It's actually better without a teacher. Tickle the keys. Mess around and find whatever rhythm moves you.

Learning to enjoy expressing yourself--in music or in writing--is a great foundation for everything else.
I don't know what to tell you. You can't sit at a piano for the first time ever and play a sonata. You can't pick up a tennis racket for the first time and serve a 110MPH Ace.

You have to fuck up.

You have to be able to handle failing.

You have to love it enough to not get it right and keep on.

ECCC is in one month which means it's time to start getting stock orders in! I'll be getting all print orders in this weekend - I need time for proof prints. I always aim to have all stock in hand 2 weeks before a big show to give time for prep work. All prep needs to be done 3 days before the show

**Big important clarification on this part of the thread.
"Tools and supplies" means actual tools like paint brushes or a tablet, and supplies meaning paper, paints, etc. The medium.

This does NOT include genai. Genai does not make art, it is not a tool, it is not an "art" medium.
If someone wants to make art they'll make art.
There's a lot of emphasis by some that think only the tools and supplies will allow you to make art, but that's BS. Yes, SOME tools and supplies will allow you to make CERTAIN types of art, but that's not stopping you from creating.
Only you can do that

There's no gate to art.
My parents aren't artists. I wasn't close to a library. We didn't even have internet until I was in high school. I used Crayola and regular 2H pencils until high school. My paint was all the 99 cent craft paint. I painted on foam core scraps, rocks & cardboard.

I really need to get up to Mt. Rainier this year for some reference gathering. It's way past time I get that mountain into some paintings

The mouse I ordered arrived today and it matches so well! I've never had a colored keyboard and mouse that have matched before and this brings me joy x]

Having a weird social media thing lately where I type an update & then delete it feeling like it's not important enough to post. Or worried that I post too much. Or not interesting enough etc.
Almost deleted this one too lol. Never used to have this trouble.
Idk, here's Sitka helping me work today.

Lit by the soft flashes like starlight
Offer a moment of rest and reflection
Between unspoken words

Meta only sees its users as dollar signs and data to mine. That's it. Stop putting your art on Instagram and do not give them money. It will become a place of all ads, if it hasn't already.

I pay for the most expensive Squarespace subscription at $51/month. But to pay that for IG?! Or $500/month?!!
I just got this notification from this trial Meta is conducting. For art to be seen, fees are required. No more likes because your work is interesting to ppl, it is all just paid access to huge audiences. And these are just starting fees, they go up after a month. 👎😬😭

Decided I wanted to offer a different shirt style, so I added the Gildan 5000 to the shop! The colors are different but the sizing appears to be more relaxed and maybe not as long as the Bella+Canvas 3001
This one also has more colors in the 4XL and 5XL sizes :)

🎒 ART STORAGE: 5x7 prints

I think this is as close to perfect as I'm ever going to find for the 5x7 prints! A little extra room on the side and space at the top for dividers.

Really Useful Box 17 Liter
Bottom measures 11.75 x 14.75 inches
Depth: 5.5 inches but lid adds additional .5 in
