So much political commentary/analysis comes down to whether you see 2024 as:

1) A sweeping and lasting change, signaling deeply and widely held issue beliefs, practically a binding referendum on American culture

Or

2) The fourth close presidential election in a row, and impacted by global trends

“People only care about INFLATION & we’re about to have a RECESSION” was the drumbeat mantra of 2021-24, during the most rapid economic recovery & unbroken period of job growth in modern 🇺🇸 history 🧐🤷‍♂️

No, really, people said this all the time when the Old Democrat was president & delivered record job growth & employment & real wages & real income & real consumption & even brought inflation closer to target than 85% of the time since we’ve had a target
"Everyone cares about inflation. Only the unemployed care about unemployment" 🤔
🧵👇🎯 The other way you know that people actually care about unemployment & these arguments are not serious is that the Dems were absolutely shellacked in the 2010 midterms & all of the polls said voters cared about unemployment & all of the pundits blamed Dems for not paying enough attention to it.

We have serious problems to solve and we need serious people to solve them. Whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, Donald Trump is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things & two things only: making you afraid of it and telling you who’s to blame for it.

So systemic discrimination DOES exist! But white guys are the victims of it!

The most intellectually, politically, and culturally lazy cohort in modern history - white guys of mediocre intellect, creativity, & personality who can only ape the theories, language, laws, & struggle of Black people.
Guys, victimhood culture is alpha now

good job to the trans people who voted to "burn your own babies" by abstaining from supporting Harris, I'm sure all the trans kids in America who lose medical care will be extremely understanding about how you had to do this to make a stand on a foreign policy issue

i, kind of crucially, think that there are very very few things that should lead someone to be ejected entirely from America, that's a pretty load-bearing belief for me

i think this kind of sentiment is *genuinely one of them* though
Rep. Andy Ogles calls for a stop to all visas: "We've got to acknowledge there are certain religions and cultures that don't work here. They're incompatible with the West, with the United States of America ... they bring nothing to our nation except a drain on our resources."

Trump promised to fix everything on day one, remember? Blaming today’s issues on his predecessors proves he was FOS then and is FOS now. F*ck Trump, f*ck everyone who voted for him, and everyone who contributed to his victory.

Sgt Rock! If you ever want to really enjoy some good comics, I highly recommend digging into any of Joe Kubert's Sgt Rock stories. They are amazing. Mostly because of what Kubert brought to it. I took a crack at Sarge, but Kubert is the only one who can really do the character justice.

Look back at US history over the past 35 years. 3 Democratic presidents: Clinton, Obama, Biden. 3 GOP presidents: Bush 41, Bush 43,Trump. The Dem presidents have had to clean up the economic messes left by their GOP predecessors. In 2029, it will happen again. You want a good economy? Elect a Dem.

Small drones are playing such a big role in the Russia-Ukraine war not because they've proven superior, but because no one has air superiority, air defense is weak, and attempts at complex combined arms have broken down.

US-China wouldn't look like that.

Very good, timely piece by Justin Bronk.
