Yes, this is what I've been trying to explain to the Trump voter in my fam, with whom I have low contact - it's not the vote, it's that the vote highlights the things I already struggled with, e.g. their love of punishment, control and intolerance.
I don’t have any hard data on this; I’m willing to bet that a large percentage of (I’m furious people put a jay leno / bill maher clip in my timeline) people who say they don’t talk to fam anymore b/c they voted Trump or w/e may be short handing why they don’t talk to certain family
