I want to re-emphasize, the guy who has made HUNDREDS of videos calling people in the industry slurs, calling for them to be fired, calling all the studios that are showing games "woke and gay" and has harassed multiple journalists covering the show over the years is at the Game Awards.

"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.
Ethan Evans, former Amazon VP As VP of Prime Gaming at Amazon, we failed multiple times to disrupt the game platform Steam. We were at least 250x bigger, and we tried everything. But ultimately, Goliath lost. Here's why: The 15+ year long attempt to challenge Steam started before I was VP of Prime Gaming, but we never cracked the code. Not under my leadership or anyone else's. The first way we tried to enter the online-game-store market was through acquisition. We acquired Reflexive Entertainment (a small PC game store) and tried to scale it. It went nowhere. Then, after buying Twitch, we created our own PC games store. Our assumption was that gamers would naturally buy from us because they were already using Twitch. Wrong. Finally, we built "Luna," a game streaming service that let people play without a high-end PC. Around the same time, Google tried the same thing with their product "Stadia." Neither gained significant traction. The whole time, Steam dominated despite being a relatively small company (compared to Amazon and Google). The mistake was that we underestimated what made consumers use Steam It was a store, a social network, a library, and a trophy case all in one. And it worked well. At Amazon, we assumed that size and visibility would be enough to attract customers, but we underestimated the power of existing user habits We never validated our core assumptions before investing heavily in solutions. The truth is that gamers already had the solution to their problems and they weren't going to switch platforms just because a new one was available We needed to build something dramatically better, but we failed to do so. And we needed to validate our assumptions about our customers before starting to build. But we never really did that either. Just because you are big enough to build something doesn't mean people will use it

Here - Gator Days Transcript Panel 1 A much younger and smaller August is outside and staring up at the night sky. He is overwhelmed with a strong feeling existence. He might just be a small part of the world but he exists. He has a thought. "I'm here." Panel 2 August is now a teenager and is once again looking up to the night sky. He's at a point in his life where he feels stuck. He's overwhelmed with a lot of negative feelings. He continues to exist. He thinks "I'm still here." Panel 3 August is an adult now. He's now stands under the stars while holding his infant son, Gustopher. He looks up and contemplates all that's been happening in his life. He wonders how he's going to keep going. He wonders how he's going to make things work. Within all of his chaotic thoughts, one sticks out. "We're here." Panel 4 August is now older. Gustopher is older too. They're enjoying the night sky together and talking about the stars. Gustopher is happy. August is happy. Life can be difficult but there's times like this that make it all worth while. "We're still here."

August is bringing a bowl of a mysterious substance that people like to call a salad but it's probably 80% mayonnaise. The burgers on the grill are almost ready. Fergus: Augie, how do I see my phone mail? August: Press the envelope icon. Panel 2 Fergus looks at his phone in an attempt to find this mysterious envelope. It doesn't help that he's not wearing his reading glasses that he claims he doesn't need but he definitely need them. The burgers on the grill are done. Fergus: Where's that? August: On the home screen. Panel 3 Fergus stares at his phone in an attempt to find this mysterious home screen. Maybe there's an icon that says home screen? It's hard to tell with all the cracks on his screen. August is waiting patiently because he can tell his help will still be required. The burgers on the grill are overdone. Panel 4 Fergus admits defeat. Fergus: What's home screen? August: I'll do it. While it would admittedly be best for August to teach his Dad exactly how to find his email, he also knows that this would probably take up the majority of the barbecue. For now, it's just easier to do it himself. The burgers on the grill are about to burst into flames.
