As someone who lives in rural MB, but grew up in Winnipeg (small and not very industrial), it has become increasingly obvious to me how dirty the city's air is. You can seen the brownish cloud hanging over it. Slashing taxes, killing healthcare, to enrich oiligarchs is killing us.

We can find suitable land with sunlight, water, and nutrients to grow plants, wait years to harvest the biomass and burn it for energy, hope to capture the CO₂ with carbon capture and storage technology, and find a suitable spot to bury the CO₂ permanently.

I think I understand the many reasons why people believe it's not worth it to phase out fossil fuels, but I also feel exhausted and vaguely insane living my life knowing that while the world seems normal on the surface, the fossil-fuel economy is, right now, breaking the world forever.

I'd argue there is no "economic advantage" in a) contributing to planet destroying emissions, b) giving away billions in subsidies to a planet-destroying product, and c) investing in selling an end-of-life product.
There is no economy without a sustainable environment.
