I think fundamentally, the ability to care about the rights of a small and vulnerable minority (of whom you might know no members) is an important sign of whether you are committed to human rights out of principle, or out of mere convenience.
Being nice to trans people really did turn out to be a load bearing part of liberal democracy ey

Do others routinely check each account that follows them? I don’t tend to but today a UK based French revolution reenactment group with no posts followed me.

Their follow list is full of historians, naturally enough.

Down a rabbit hole I went.

This from Riley Gaines is why trans people freak out when Democrats try to carve out some compromise over sports. The politicians and activists attacking trans people are not interested in compromise! They're interested in our eradication from public life and are exploiting sports to that end

As both a trans person and an advocate, I often want to know what the ACTUAL law is right NOW. This used to be a difficult thing to answer, now it's crystal clear.

I'm so incredibly proud to have the opportunity to be a part of this project and the incredible team at L4GG. It's truly an honor!
We didn’t want the country to need this—but we’re proud to offer it.

The Policy Resource Hub for Transgender Rights is a safe, expert-built resource tracking law affecting trans people across all 56 U.S. states and territories - updated every single day.

This is an excellent article - I have some additional thoughts from a feminist perspective on the consequences of this Supreme Court judgment, rather than just my legal ones:

Thread 🧵
The UK Supreme Court’s transphobic ruling on the definition of woman last week is a defeat for all women—even, ultimately, the self-described feminists celebrating it, and the women who will gain in the short term from their alliance with the carceral state.

The UK's Anti-Trans Ruling Is a Defeat for All Women
Even the self-described feminists celebrating the Supreme Court's attempt to banish trans people from womanhood will pay a heavy price.

A fantastic thread.
Section 28 didn’t come out of nowhere.
It came from a society where 75% thought homosexuality was wrong.
From a society that feared the sight of a man in drag would corrupt.
From a society that believed ignorance was better for children than any knowledge of gay lives.
