I see no where it saying $270,000,000 is cool for Elmo to donate to a candidate. Seems like it may be excessive! Like $269,989,000 excessive!! And the numbers didn't get released until AFTER the election!

To me this is fairly obvious evidence of the right's triumph in the information sphere. People like what Democrats do but they hate "Democrats," the lurid stereotype created & relentlessly propagated by right-leaning media.
The US public remains operationally liberal (on specific policies) but symbolically conservative (including on the role of gov). In parallel, it trusts Democrats more on specific policies but less on broad direction. This clouds judgments on both sides of Dem intra-party feuds.

It shouldn’t be ignored that Kash Patel chose to plead the Fifth in response to a grand jury subpoena over the Mar-a-Lago classified documents.

He only testified, involuntarily, after being granted immunity.

Think about that. Trump’s FBI nominee pled the Fifth in response to a DOJ subpoena.

Everyone remotely near a position of power in the U.S. right now is drunk on It Can't Happen Here-ism and most of the rest of the world has recent enough experience with It Happening that they react differently.

No idea how to fix a broken mindset among the powerful and comfortable.
South Korea rn is what it looks like when people see democracy as a fragile thing that needs to be defended by all means necessary, and not as their inevitable birthright as citizens of an exceptional nation
