Everyone contributes to the movement in the ways they see fit. Some get teargassed and shot with rubber bullets by rampaging cops, others offer notes online re: how the people getting gassed/shot might seem less deserving of getting gassed/shot to the general public. It's a coalition.

I don’t think we as a society appreciate the Netflix corporation enough for making it perfectly normal to be able to hear “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” at any given Panda Express on a random Sunday evening.

Slavery never ended.
Assigned to a prison job paying $0.13 per hour, Abron Arrington refused to work, figuring his time could be better spent learning physics.

The Colorado DOC punished him with bouts of solitary confinement. boltsmag.org/colorad...
Forced Labor Continues in Colorado, Years After Vote to End Prison Slavery
Coloradans voted in 2018 to amend their state constitution to ban forced labor in prison. Years later, incarcerated people are still being punished for refusing work assignments.

Schumer: "If he defies the Supreme Court, then we are in uncharted territory ... our entire democracy is at risk. I believe that if Donald Trump should defy the courts, the public will rise up. Democrats will fight it in every single way ... autocrats only succeed if the public lets them."

you had a supermajority in congress and complete control of the government and you pushed for romneycare instead of single-payer and now we won’t even get to keep that because you wouldn’t prosecute bush and cheney and show republicans that consequences exist for even the highest office in the land
Figured I’d hop on here today for the 15th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act.

With everything going on right now, it’s easy to feel like regular folks can’t make a difference – but the ACA is a reminder that change is possible when we fight for progress.

As long as Schumer remains leader, we have to assume this is true. Every Dem senator bears responsibility.
Chuck Schumer: I think I have the overwhelming support of my caucus and so many of the members thanked me and said you did what you thought was courageous, and we respect it. I think my caucus and I are in sync and everyone knew what I was doing and respected it.

It’s baffling unless you understand that Klobuchar wants large parts of Trump’s agenda to succeed.

Klobuchar voted for Brooke Rollins as head of the USDA despite her having no qualifications in agriculture. Rollins just eliminated $1 billion for farmers to get local crops to schools and food banks.
i notice that in the longtime safely blue state of minnesota, @klobuchar.senate.gov has voted in favor of confirming seven members of this cabinet.

My senator, Adam Schiff, has voted to confirm five members of Trump’s cabinet. There was no strategic rationale for doing so. California is a safe Dem state and he has six years before he’s up for re-election. There’s simply no plausible explanation beyond the fact that he supports Trump’s agenda.

The best way to understand the U.S. right now is as a parliamentary system where the Democrats have joined a coalition government to vote in favor of everything the Republicans want without demanding any concessions for their own constituents.

chuck schumer is splitting hairs over whether donald trump is an antisemite while condemning palestinian green card holders as antisemites without even bothering to learn the first thing about them.
Ah yes, who could forget the obvious distinction between being an antisemite and "creating the feeling of safe harbor for far-right elements who unabashedly or in coded language express antisemitic sentiments"

when biden said, “defund the police? no! fund the police!” it was clear that as a society we were completely unprepared to do the hard things before us it would take to avoid a fascist takeover.
I often think about how ‘defund the police’ was too radical to even *say* & now law enforcement very likely to be the only healthy government agencies we have and they will be explicitly weaponized by fascists against us all & most of them have been clamoring for this moment.
