A very nice November day for a ride on the East Bay Bike Path. Rhode Island in the fall.

Just thinking about the times my coworkers said, “Nah, I ain’t doing that” in the face of edicts from fascists or folks complying in advance to fascists this year. It gives me so much hope.

“Downtown Venus” was one of the first cassette singles I ever bought and I still put on PM Dawn when I need high-quality tunes to this DAY
one of the most quixotic of my many years-long quests is to rehabilitate the standing of 90s hip hop group P.M. Dawn. I am succeeding, one person at a time.
Speaking of which, one of my favorite things I've ever read on the Internet is this piece by @anildash.com:

The RI Community Food Bank has set up this page. RI food bank and local pantries know best how to serve communities. Give to them what you can and utilize them if needed. (If giving, $$ is always good. If you do give product, make sure it's what they are asking for.) Mutual aid is resistance. 💙

We held a neighborhood gathering for @davidmoralespvd.bsky.social tonight. David is running for mayor of Providence and, like progressive peers in other cities, his campaign is on a lean budget, going against an incumbent whose supporters have deep pockets. And ya know what? He’s gonna win.

It’s hard to convey just how much Chicagoans are mobilizing against ICE. Don’t want to downplay the harm, or make it seem like a fair fight. But in neighborhoods across this city, ICE is getting chased by people blowing whistles and shouting. People are running TOWARD ICE to protect their neighbors.

My first high school band almost exclusively covered nu metal bands including Korn, Deftones, Limp Bizkit and (deep cut!) TrustCompany. I was 15 and it was fun as SHIT
What’s the closest you ever got to a “Nu metal phase”?

1000% this. Sure, there are some helpful uses of AI just like any other technology is useful. I have a problem when organizations buy into AI hype, dismiss valid critique, force employees to use AI, and then use AI as a forcing function for layoffs www.anildash.com//2025/10/17/...

Between 8000 and 10,000 people at the Rhode Island “No Kings” protest. Similar events happened/happening across the state. The only previous rally this big was the BLM protest a few years ago.

This captures my approach to technology in our house. No TV with a microphone or a camera in it, no remote control with a microphone or a camera in it, no smart home devices, and absolutely no camera doorbells. Nothing connecting to the internet unless I say it needs to.

Love talking with my friends and comrades about making things in this current fascist era. I wasn't feeling well so hope I made some sense, lol. Thanks for having us Kelly.
I talked with @prisonculture.bsky.social and Red Schulte about the importance of zines under fascism, political education that builds power, finding collective courage, and the mistakes we’ll make along the way. Audio + transcript:
Making Things Together: Zines, Strategy, and Survival
“We’re going to need a lot more in-person opportunities for us to expand our humanity,” says organizer Mariame Kaba.
