History teaches us that the way to stand up to a dictator is to fight back against him, not capitulate to him.

Surrendering to tyranny invites more of it.

This moment we're in should not be met with a "moderate" response.

Luckily, some Democrats starting to understand this.

NBA games are just better when the winning score is right around 100 points.

Hotel pillows are so thick that I can’t sleep on them. Called the Fontainebleau front desk to ask for thinner ones and it’s like they’ve never heard that request before. They didn’t use to all be like this. Am I the only one?

Every word I read about congestion pricing reminds me of when they reintroduced wolves in Yellowstone and the whole ecosystem started working correctly again.
"More people visited the Business Improvement Districts within Manhattan’s congestion relief zone in January than during the same month last year, dispelling some business owners’ fears that the toll would deter visitors to Manhattan’s core..." [Subscription required]
Business foot traffic is up within the congestion pricing zone
A million more people visited the city’s Business Improvement Districts in Manhattan below 60th Street in January.

I often think of the time the 2019 NBA draft class played “one gotta go” between Kendrick, Drake, and JCole and every one of them chose Kendrick.

I imagine that tennis players feel about pickleball players the way skiers felt about snowboarders in the 90s. I don’t really do any of those activities but I can imagine.

Tipping in the US is so out of control. Being in the UK and Ireland, not having to go through the tipping process has been such a revelation. Order drinks at the bar, tap your card and walk away.

One thing I think people talking about the threat of authoritarian creep have gotten, if not exactly wrong, not quite right either is to frame discussion in terms of various European precedents.

Those are relevant to be sure, but we also have an American precedent - namely the South before 1965.

Fox had a show in the 2000s called Man vs. Beast where Kobayashi got in a hotdog eating contest with a bear and Carl Lewis would race a zebra. They would take forever hyping it and I’d wait it out because I really wanted to see what would happen. Anyway, I really hope I don’t see Tyson get KO’d.
