One of the worst things about do-called AI is that it pits my students against me. Over decades of teaching, I have built relationships of trust with my students, where I don't bs them about the world they live in, and they don't bs me about the work they do for me about it. "AI" interrupts this.

last night as i was trying to wind down for bed i had a unified theory of what the fuck just happened, and i wrote it down, and filed it under "well, i can't talk about this on main without sounding insane until and unless the perp gets caught and is provably a groyper"

anyways, great news! (1/X)

Thank you to all who protested VP Vance’s visit to La Crosse. We had more people at the protest than he had at the event.

Fellow-citizens, pardon me, allow me to ask, why am I called upon to speak here to-day? What have I, or those I represent, to do with your national independence? Are the great principles of political freedom and of natural justice, embodied in that Declaration of Independence, extended to us?...

I'm planning on continuing to talk about Thomas Partey, Arsenal and rape culture as long as it is a problem within football

An Open Letter to Arsenal Football Club
Today, the news broke that Thomas Partey, an Arsenal player until the beginning of this month, is being prosecuted for five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

Arsenal wanted to hand Thomas Partey a new contract and it only didn't happen b/c of his salary demands.

Tremendously poor decision-making from the club from start to finish.

You will never convince me that there weren't alternative paths that didn't involve continuing to play and feature him.

I want to hear what this fucking club has to say for itself. Spoiler alert, there's no excuse and there's never been any excuse. They dropped Auba like a hot potato for not showing up and being a problem. They protected Thomas.

The crime is the fault of the perpetrator, and continuing to play him probably would have been the recommendation of counsel. The club had plausible deniability on that. But trying to extend his contract goes outside the air cover.

The top of the house has a lot to answer for today.

Still hard to swallow that the club made a serious effort to extend his contract. Two weeks ago it hit a hard left turn - the reporting was that it was over money but it’s not hard to wonder if the club got wind this was coming.

To state the obvious, the whole affair makes Arsenal look TERRIBLE.

Do profs respond to student evaluations?

On average? Nope.

Those who have a more positive view of their own teaching do.

But all of these responses are driven by the female teachers.

"Male teachers appear to be unresponsive to student feedback."
