Exactly.
She won handily, the people of Wellington liked her vision, she cracked on with it just the way she said she would, and a few people lost their whole entire minds.
I was really shocked by the efforts to sabotage her. It was so blatant and so undemocratic.

Our city has not received our fair share in recent years across all modes. This is a central government proposal related to SH1. I'm committed to better public transport and one of the ways I'll be advocating for that is through getting a Regional Deal for Wellington.

Little setting himself up for failure by not immediately punishing Chung with removal from committees or similar. He was already given a MASSIVE chance by not freezing him out on the basis of behaviour during the campaign. End his career or suffer the consequences.

Many people, including the former mayor, repeatedly tried to warn you. This blatant infosec breach is a real ‘standard you walk past is the standard you accept’ moment for Mayor Andrew Little.

Demonstrating that privatising water management is stupid - a 10-year boil water notice and 30 days without tap water all under private management, with the private manager trespassed from the water treatment plant bc he did not pay rent for 7 years.

One of the few good things about living in New Zealand is that you can look at the Labour Party and if you are like “wow I’m way more progressive than/left of them”, then you simply don’t have to give your party vote to them and move on with your life guilt free and vote for Greens 🤷🏽‍♀️

10 of the 16 Wellington City Councillors are Labour/Green, in a city that has two Green MPs, and Little has already leaned into the mediocre middle that the people Do Not Want.

I had an election where I was excited to vote for a mayoral candidate, then 3 years of being proud of the council and the work they were doing.

But now we have this.

So gutting.
Just leaving this here. Andrew Little could have given Ray Chung the cold shoulder from day one. But oh no, he had to help out his bros. bsky.app/profile/bewa...
And he overlooked the very experienced Rebecca Matthews in favour of Chung and brand new right wing councillors like Karl the ice cream man. Five minutes into the job and he's done nothing but validate all my worst fears about him.

Interesting to see Tom Hunt treating Ray Chung's utterly predictable bad behaviour and Andrew Little's piss weak response to it with a far more delicate approach than he ever took towards our precious wāhine Māori mayor www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3608...
