As this government came to power I and many others urged them to scrap the two-child benefit limit, which would instantly have taken 250,000 kids out of poverty.

Not only did they not do that, their policies will now push a further 250,000 people (inc 50k kids) into poverty. Deeply demoralising.

This is a transparent move to drive a wedge between mental illness and physical disability. Both need support. We are stronger together. They won't stop here. Every disabled person needs to stand in solidarity to protect support for all who need it ♿✊ #PIP #WelfareCuts
The Times reports people will only be eligible for PIP if they score at least 4 points ***in a single activity*** (and more overall). This specifically discriminates against people with mental illness, who generally score fewer points across multiple areas. It would be an absolute disaster. 1/3

A good #SocialSecurity system doesn’t just protect disabled & unemployed people—it protects all of us.

Lose your job? Get sick? Care for a loved one? Stuck in a minimally waged job that barely covers rent? You’ll need it too.

When the safety net breaks, we all fall. That’s why we must all fight.

Last Friday, Labour leaked their disability cuts plans to ITV leading to panic, despair, hopelessness and a noticeable spike in suicidal ideation in disabled communities.

Rachel Reeves wouldn’t have noticed this though as she was enjoying a free box at a Sabrina Carpenter gig.

Also we gain so much experience, perspective, knowledge, understanding and skill from becoming #disabled. It's wild to me that people don't consider it an asset.

#DisabilitySky
Whenever I think about disability and eugenics, I think of Stephen Hawking. Utterly brilliant man, trapped in a crap body.

If people discard the disabled, you’re going to miss out amazing people that are simply unwell. It’s so narrow minded and such a waste.

I applied for Access to Work 9 months back. I was supposed to hear back 6 months at the latest.

I got the emotional and physical energy to call them today.

The automated service hung up. Twice.

The government doesn't want disabled people in work. They don't.
