This is excellent. In three minutes she explains how democracies become dictatorships. It's happened so many times, yet in each country, most people said, 'it can't happen here'
#StaceyAbrams explains how to achieve an #autocracy in 10 steps.

We're at step 9.

The military is in our streets. Is our democracy worth the effort to defend it?

Who do you think will make the best deal for Canada in the end, Prime Minister Carney or this guy?

If you're Albertan and you're tired of the separatism talk and all the instability that comes with it, then blame Danielle Smith

She has catered to the separatist element within her party for years by creating fights with Ottawa

Creating chaos is how she maintains power

Transgender kids in Alberta got a little bit closer to freedom today.

While bombing Iran is bad for Trump’s poll numbers, starting a war and creating chaos is good for Trump as an authoritarian. Authoritarians exploit chaos to claim emergency powers, deploy the military domestically, and undermine free and fair elections.

These attacks must be viewed from this lens.

This is a very good response to Danielle’s twisty stories told at the coal town hall last night. Thank you, Sarah Elmeligi, for setting the story straight.

The #1 reason Alberta separation talk burns my butt is because to entertain any scenario where Alberta leaves confederation rips away my 🇨🇦CANADIAN🇨🇦 identity.

I’m not willing to give that away for any pile of money or privilege.

You’ll have to tear the maple leaf away from my cold, dead hands.

Appreciation quote-post for Dr. Wesley; his guiding hand amidst this UCP governance mess is so valuable in this moment. As a political scientist it’s apparent that he understands and can make sense of the environment we live in.

Another banger thread. 👇🏼
Smith blamed "successive Liberal governments" and their "extremist" "NDP allies" for an "onslaught" or “tidal wave” of "attacks" on Alberta’s economy.

This isn’t a policy disagreement. It’s enemy-framing. It tells Albertans that Ottawa wants to harm them.

Confederation is like a family. Ultimatums, threats and escape plans are not a way to make a family work.

Premier Smith should ask herself what her intentions are here. Is she comfortable with where this might lead?

Are we, as Albertans?

Let’s be constructive. Canada is worth it.

I'm often asked: What motivates Danielle Smith to do the radical things she does?

After all, many of her actions fly in the face of public opinion, the constitution, conservative ideology, and her own public commitments.

I used to equivocate.

I'm about ready to call it.🧵

“Naked political ambition and partisanship.”

Couldn’t agree more. She sees Albertans only as road kill on the path to her throne, sparing only the ones who will keep her in power.
But none of these fully capture the core of Smith's political soul.

That was laid bare in her justification for clearing a path for a referendum on sovereignty.

The answer: nakedness political ambition and partisanship.

She's united First Nations across Canada against what she's doing.

In space, Venus flanks Earth on the left, with a hellfire greenhouse effect. Mars on the right, which long ago had running water. Today, it's bone dry. Something bad happened on each planet.

Seems like the wrong time to limit the Nation’s capacity to conduct climate research.

Want proof that govt policy and leadership matters in HC?

This is what happens when a govt:
- muzzles and hides active Public Health leadership
- micromanages and chooses containment over prevention in HC
- caters to "contrarian" opinion
- won't advocate that vaccines work

Today, an avowed separatist leader from Quebec called for Canadian unity.

Meanwhile, an avowed federalist from Alberta went out of her way to make it easier to launch a sovereignty referendum in her province.

Power's a hell of a drug.

How handy!
Weird they are all UCP, none are NDP
Contact numbers also there, so you can tell them what you think.
It woudl also be a good list to consult, come election time.
