Rogue data scientist with almost 20 years of federal government experience, currently at NOAA waiting for the axe to fall. DOGE just took the civil out of civil servant. Still here for the science though!

Glad to see this launched! It's sad that the U.S. is at this point with literal clowns in charge of the government and our data, but glad to see even in these dark times ppl dedicated to making sure data is available to the public! Donate and pass the word that climate science isn't going anywhere!

Yep, between this and Trump's plan to deploy more National Guard units across 19 states in the coming weeks, there's no cause for alarm here at all..........
"Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse will no longer serve as head of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency"

"Hegseth also fired Vice Adm. Nancy Lacore, who is chief of the Navy Reserve, as well as Rear Adm. Milton Sands, [...] who oversees Naval Special Warfare Command"

Hegseth fires Defense Intelligence Agency head, Navy leaders
The ousters have ramped up the Trump administration’s targeting of both military leadership and the intelligence community.

This is a direct result of Republicans weaponising the Dept of Education and cutting funds going to schools yet expecting others to pay for their choices. And once again, children with no say in the matter get caught in the middle and suffer because of it.

Current vibe in the hallways of NOAA: if you say "Climate!" out loud three times, a DOGE rat will appear from nowhere and snatch your funding. And possibly your candy. Doesn't change the data though, even if international agencies will have to carry the torch for a while.

Why the federal government is making climate data disappear
Under Trump, climate denial has given way to something even more dangerous: climate erasure.

These are the kind of heroes we need in these dark times. Might not change their vote but at least force them to confront exactly what the funding cuts are forcing us to sacrifice.
BREAKING: Scientists are staging a “science fair” in the lobby of a Congressional building to tell elected officials about the critical knowledge the US will lose because their research grants have been canceled.

Obviously, I feel terrible for the flood victims. I am going to push back on this statement tho. And, I’ll attach the Mesoscale Precipitation Discussion from NOAA’s WPC. This should have been blasted over commercial airwaves as soon as it was forecast and issued. NWS had the forecast and warnings.

But its life-saving forecasting & data collection are at risk from NOAA cuts.

This is ridiculous. Even in the gutted CR there was funding for IMLS but once again Trump and his DOGE minions have decided they know better than Congress. If you've ever used Libby or an Inter-Library Loan you've benefitted from IMLS funds and services! Speak up!!
NEW — Keith Sonderling, Trump’s Deputy Secretary of Labor, has been named the Acting Director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), an agency source tells me. He’ll arrive tomorrow at their office with DOGE and their security detail.
