@davidolusoga.bsky.social Really enjoying Empire
Thank you
I would love a follow up series/program telling the story of women and Empire

For example two books:

Beddoe, Deirdre
&
2. The Floating Brothel:…

Whatever your views of Diane Abbott, this incident alone from 2022 should preclude Wes Streeting from becoming Prime Minister
It should have precluded him from holding any senior ministerial brief
But, as we know, misogynoir is way down in Starmer’s “hierarchy of equality”
MP’s, other witnesses: Streeting’s ‘disgusting, disgraceful’ behaviour left Abbott ‘shell-shocked’
Wes Streeting and Diane Abbott In April, the SKWAWKBOX published details of an incident in Parliament in which Ilford North MP Wes Streeting ‘shouted in the face’ of Shadow Home Secreta…

If the government wants to raise school readiness it must scrap the 2 child benefit cap & raise the family benefit cap
That would lift about 2.5m children out of poverty
Those in the poorest quintile are a whole year behind developmentally on starting nursery
Parenting in poverty is nigh impossible
Government wants to raise 'school readiness' to 75% by 2028 - but experts have warned the education committee this target could leave poorer pupils further behind

“…island of strangers”

Need we say more?
Yes - because of him - by tacitly endorsing Reform's views let alone actually providing a genuine progressive push-pack - his utter moral failure has allowed this.
Racism returning to UK politics – and people are very scared, says Starmer
PM attacks ‘toxic division of Reform’ and gives strongest signal yet that two-child benefit cap will be lifted

There is institutional bias in the other direction and this smokescreen is utterly sickening.

Heads up for folx playing Arc Raiders: Embark has openly stated (in an interview with GamesRadar+), that the game uses the same AI voice tech as The Finals, and the CEO has talked about using AI to generate 3D models from YouTube rips.

If you're anti-AI you should not be playing Arc Raiders!
Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

During the “Wicked” TV Special, Marissa Bode who plays Nessa Rose, introduced the song “Defying Gravity” saying “Elphaba stands up to a power-hungry dictator” (a remark which earned thunderous applause). Though entirely true in the context of the narrative, her comment was censored and cut by NBC.

Thinking on this horrific event today
I despair at #Starmer’s ludicrous, cynical propensity to define any event or action as #terrorism if it hides his incompetence, his complicity, his callousness, or his authoritarianism
Or bolsters his wider agenda in any way
Reading about the young man who stabbed three children in #Stockport, I am left wondering was he ever seen by a forensic psychiatrist, & if not why not? Starmer seems to be trying to politicise this event as a terrorist issue. But this was an autistic boy who specialised & restricted interest was…
