It’s as if being a privileged arrogant egocentric bigot (as long as that bigotry works to the advantage of rich white cis women), with a pathological lack of self doubt, was part of the person-spec to becoming a BBC Newsnight presenter
And if your husband is an investment banker so much the better.

Except the BBC is so much more than news.
I’ve stopped listening to its news and politics output, except for occasional forays into world service, but would miss the rest a great deal

And perhaps not move anyone else from GB news to a position of influence or power at the BBC

Nothing shows better why Wales needs independence from this toxic Union than the UK MSM response to the #Caerphilly Senedd by-election
There is more in the Catalan press about the impact of this result on Wales than in the MSM which, like Westminster, is only interested in what it means for England

National BBC isn’t anti Welsh because it barely acknowledges we exist
If they do it’s only to illustrate something important to England As in recent Caerphilly by-election

I’m old enough to remember when the BBC used old footage of Johnson at the cenotaph, to cover the fact that he was hung over and looked like a burst mattress on a tip.
The DG didn’t resign though

Awful all through
(And Snow lying about Berger. She was escorted TO the conference, not inside it)
Yes Corbyn dealt with it badly - too polite, too vague, too appeasing, too reasonable; ended up sounding uncertain
But l don’t excuse Snow, who I’d never seen being this unpleasant before

I’ve no idea if he’s likeable or not, but getting elected as an independent candidate in Islington suggests his constituents like him a lot
He was bad at media, but they were awful to him Unbelievably hostile & rude. Even John Snow on Channel4 news did an upsettingly aggressive interview.

Corbyn inspired a movement not a cult. Many were young non voters who got engaged with politics because of his policies & his campaign - That’s not to be sniffed at
They’ve since disengaged with electoral politics, my 2 amongst them💔
If Polanski manages to re-engage them, well - all power to him

I just didn’t come across that when I campaigned
Everyone I canvassed with were just people wanting less inequality & a more socially just society
Corbyn was rarely discussed unless bought up by voters
As in
“Not voting Labour because Corbyn is:
Antisemitic
A terrorist
Etc
An anti-Corbyn cult!

Starmer has finished Labour. I cannot see it recovering from the right wing authoritarianism it espouses now

I agree
Corbyn never wanted/expected to be leader - only on the ballot because the right wanted to block Burnham
He wasn’t good at it
But Starmer is worse - a crap leader, racist, lying, unprincipled, complicit in genocide, the charisma of Gordon Brittas
Yet he got a free pass from the MSM

That reaction was perhaps because much of the criticism was in bad faith, ie lies to sink him
Eg:
*He was antisemitic - (never found guilty of that despite Starmer’s best efforts)
*He was a terrorist who supported terrorist acts (IRA, Hezbollah etc)
*He was a security risk (Johnson was, not him)

Equally I know many highly intelligent young people (including Oxford PPE grads) who supported Corbyn because his policies offered them hope for the future
The media patronisingly called it a cult
It wasn’t
You fell for that
Reform is - classic charismatic sociopathic leader
(ps: Corbyn is neither)

I got behind Corbyn because for the first time since my first year as a working adult in 1979 I could support a party & leader with policies I fully believed in
After nearly 50 years you have no idea how good that felt
I was gutted by John Smith’s death
I hated the authoritarianism of New Labour

Why the bitchy remark at the end?
(makes you sound like a nasty Labour centrist)
Is it because, unlike Farage & Johnson, Corbyn was crucified by the MSM & you hope/anticipate Polanski will receive the same treatment, seeing HIS POLICIES present the same threat to establishment power as did Corbyn’s
