Just having a tidy up of some old #EcoSchools stuff and came across this little gem from over 10 years ago. Not sure where it originated but the message is more relevant than ever. 🌳🌍👍

Another one for the future economy file where the UK and rest of Europe is completely in denial - demographics.

The gap between politics and economic reality has surely never been wider than now. bsky.app/profile/anth...
The UK will celebrate net emigration and depopulation come 2027.

And by 2028 it will start to realise, with an ageing society and low growth, what a really silly thing it has done.

The right will go "pro-natalist", the centre-left will be completely stuck.

Immigration policy has dictated our politics since - and because of - Brexit. It has led to nothing but failure, division and a resurgence in brazen racism. It is a scapegoating shield dishonest politicians hide behind to deny their own responsibility. And, ultimately, it has become utterly ruinous.

Meanwhile, in-vehicle touchscreens remain completely unregulated in the US.

You can already see it in the Daily Mail's coverage of Poles leaving the country.

They're not going to thank you for non-Brits leaving / not coming in the first place. They're just going to say it's because the country is going to hell!

Amazed the Government can't see it coming

Some countries are heading into a reverse Enlightenment. An age of bullshit, irrationality, and idiocy. The US is rushing headlong to the cliff edge while the UK is just eroding it's capacity by ignoring the obvious crisis in the research sector
Well, this is an utter disaster for science.

This gutting of peer review is very likely driven by Project 2025/OMB/Vought, very likely is about funding junk science, and very likely is coming for #NIH and biomedical research next.
