Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.

Which 18 states survived the 2025 revolution? Wrong answers only.
Today we're unveiling our eighth locomotive in Metro-North’s Heritage Series—a moving tribute to our nation’s veterans.

Created and designed by Metro-North veterans, this locomotive embodies gratitude to those who have worn the uniform, both within the Metro-North family and across the country.

For context this is on the bus. Imagine replacing "letter of LGBTQ" with "religion" or "race." That wouldn't be anywhere fucking close to acceptable. That would be hate speech.
Sometimes the kids are NOT alright.

"My cousin asked me if you could get rid of one of the LGBTQ letters what would you get rid of? I said... Asexuals! Bye, prudes!"

Oh apparently also trans people shouldn't exist because they should just be a binary gender.

What the fuck?

My son Seamus died 15 years ago today. He was killed by a careless driver in a crosswalk.

He walked at 9 months, almost as if he knew he wouldn’t have much time. His favorite thing to do was throw rocks into water. He loved the moon. He called butterflies “buddy buddies.” I miss him every day.

Rode 50km today on rambling trails, enjoyed everything from paved separated AAA car-free routes to bramble-mired shoulderless roads.

What I com away with is the appreciation for just how good we have it in @saanichbc.bsky.social and @victoria.ca

I've been grumpy about NotJustBikes' arrogance, sass, rudeness, and superiority complex for the last few years, but this is the one video he made that is served well by his attitude. Genuinely his best work to date, the right place to direct rudeness and anger: the person who destroyed cycling.
Oh boy, I had the same exact experience as Not Just Bikes when I decided I needed to read John Forester's Effective Cycling before writing about vehicular cycling in my book. It is a truly horrible book, and you really do not need to read it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRPd...

See your mistake was that they polled Canadian Citizens, instead of just billionaires and companies. We all know the only opinions that matter are billionaires and companies.
Recent polls indicate a majority of Canadians support the government to either maintain or increase federal climate action at 85%, over two-thirds (67%) agree that climate action should be a high priority. Additionally, 75% of Canadians agree that collective action can limit climate change!
I know I've said this before, but from advertorials to false equivalence the media really needs to own up to its role in warping the climate issue. www.thenation.com/article/envi...

Checked out @saanichbc.bsky.social great new infrastructure that is about 85% finished at Cadboro Bay/UVIC! This is one of the most cohesive and least flawed (not unflawed) projects in the Victoria core area. There are issues but they are put weight by wins here, finally!

The fact that the ultra-wealthy think they deserve a special bonus level of access to democratically elected leaders is one of the biggest failings of our "democracy." Get in line with everyone else.
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."

I am waiting for a single Victoria city councillor to explain why we are bickering about public service scale backs and cuts, when we could just NOT PAY THE POLICE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS MORE EVERY YEAR.

I'm waiting. Explain it. Explain why they basically get a blank cheque and we get no results.
Mayor Alto clarifies that any proposed reductions wouldn't touch Crystal Pool to maintain the funding envelope. In other words, Crystal Pool may "cost" the City in other services and programs.

[unless Council decides to forego austerity and own their pool decision by raising taxes]

Hey @deanmurdock.bsky.social sound familiar? Maybe we need to stop handing free legitimacy to the people spreading misinformation.
Have you heard of “The Populist Playbook?”

A few years ago, I posted what I still consider one of my most important messages.

It was about “The Populist Playbook” that I’ve watched play out often over my 33+ years of city planning.

Since then, it’s only gotten worse.

Do the steps sound familiar?

It's also the absolute piece of work politicians who have taken a disturbingly anti-indigenous stand on this, from the Mayor of Richmond spreading misinformation to BCNDP MLAs using anti-indigenous dogwhistles.
I keep seeing people demanding that B.C. suspend all negotiations with untreatied nations and basically revert back to a pre-reconciliation mindset and, just speaking factually, it's not reconcilation that caused any confusion about land ownership. It's the decades of colonial policy that did

Caylan Ford is suing me and PressProgress, along with trusted news organizations like CBC News, the Toronto Star, as well as other award-winning journalists

Caylan Ford says she wants to “impose costs” on us as part of a larger crusade to “fight back against cancel culture” 🙄

Getting mad at the concept of a tiny drop-off area is not it. The alternative is drivers illegally stopping on public roads, creating traffic conflicts, endangering everyone. Do I love car-to-transit? Lol no. But it's always going to be part of our mobility system.
This is apparently something called a “Kiss and Ride” drop off. A maze for cars next to a train station. I have never heard of this term, but it echos what @volts.wtf has said that we waste transit projects that still serve suburban commuters and cars over moving people to places they want to be
