Autism is my painful special interest, I'm a L2 semi-verbal autistic 90s baby with a "Greta Thunberg complex" regarding the autism industry. ♿🩼♾️ She/Her. UK. ⚠️ I can't read DMs.

It's not difficult to recognise autism in girls. You just need to pay attention!

Decades of suffering could be prevented if allistics stopped ignoring female autism.
This happens in autism diagnosis too. You have to unmask the ugliest, most masculine version of oneself.

I had to be angry, driven to meltdown & vengeful bluntness, hitting myself from despair, hating the human race for what it's done to me, bossy, dirty and ungroomed -- then I got diagnosed.
Attempts at fixing gender equality at leadership level all tell us to adopt behaviours largely exhibited by men to ‘get there’: be more assertive& ambitious, less humble, sensitive & reflective etc. They don’t tell men to adopt any of our dominant behaviours. This messaging is in itself patriarchal.

& that’s it

That’s all the SPINS I can think of 😮‍💨

A lot of my clients express frustration or regret that they have moved through different intense interests through their life, “I’ve never been able to stick with just one thing”

My sweet babies, this is what being adventurous looks like for us 🫶🏻

Being autistic and alone can be such a joy. Its just a break from the constant chore of being around other people, having to know when to make small talk and when not to, what to say when making small talk. Not worrying about what the other person or people are going to say. Everything is upto me.

Allistics claim to be telepathic but fail to read my mind.

Allistics claim to be telepathic but can't tell that I'm in pain, exhausted, or identify the cause of it.

Their "empathy" is a lie.

I’m autistic and I love it when people not only listen, but bring out a similar story/situation about themselves. Not only does it help me bond with others who are autistic, but it also makes me feel understood even if it's just a little bit and a little less alone.

inside semi-verbal autism:

I can't say as much as I want to say, I say the opposite of what I want to say, I use gestalt scripts that don't feel like "my words", and it's a massive effort to create spontaneous verbal replies.

Allistics say one thing and do another.

This is the core rule of allistic culture that I always fail to remember.

I always rediscover their perfidiousness when it's too late.
Allistics will say they're experts on autism.

But then they assign a puzzle piece to us because we're a mystery,

and spend millions of dollars and fruitless decades investigating where we come from -- with no clear answer.

Where is this expertise they keep talking about?

In 15 years of severe Autistic struggles, I still haven't had any meaningful support from the medical system;

I've had no autism solidarity counselling, no expert autism assessment, no SLT for my speech impairment, no explicit assessment of my severe functional impairments, no support worker.

the education system abused me for being autistic, CAMHS abused me for being autistic, and then the NHS abused me out of diagnosis;

and now I'm in perpetual mental health crisis because of what they did to me, and there's no mental health service to turn to, partly because the NHS *is* the abuser

I have a "punctuation laugh" where I laugh after someone has finished speaking. It's my way of showing an attempt to participate in the conversation even if I don't get it. And it's involuntary. It's like a release of "listening energy".

every day of my life is resistance; people don't want to believe that Autistic girls exist and so I am given this one life purpose: to exist out of spite

Industrialization causes autism to be pathologized.

I hate that this is a form of neocolonialism. The autism industry is pathologizing and persecuting the existence of autistic people in other developed and developing countries.

Allistics think that autistic people are unnatural.

But actually, allistics pathologizing neurodiversity is unnatural.

We are SUPPOSED TO BE HERE.
We are the diversity of nature.

In secondary school, repressing my natural movements and monitoring my facial expressions made it feel as though my face was melting off my skull. I got overstimulated from monitoring myself all the time.

Autistic exhaustion is rarely solely about energy.

It’s about compression.

Lack of freedom.

The daily work of holding back physical movement, emotions, thought, and truth - just to be digestible to those around us.

Just to survive.

as I get older, neuronormativity looks more and more sinister;

allistics have a cultish mentality towards "child development" that creeps me out;

it's bizarre that they're obsessed with making little clones!

Gender-specific autmisia is not discussed enough. Autmisogyny costs lives. To be an Autistic girl is to feel hunted, never able to rest in any safe space.

Online, offline, it's unsafe.
As an Autistic girl I am never safe. I am especially unsafe with services.

British services persecute Autistic girls to death. We become inquests and memorials. I have repeatedly been abused by healthcare and social services.

There's no safe place for an Autistic girl.

Most people are incredibly unaware and uneducated about disability justice (despite multiple awareness campaigns) unless they are directly and personally affected.
Ableism just doesn't seem to be on most people's radar the way other forms of discrimination are.
It just doesn't register with them.
There can be no social justice without disability justice.
Yall real silent about disability injustices because most of you don’t see disability as a thing that can happen to you.

We are “aww those poor people”. Meanwhile disability can happen to anyone at any moment and those injustices you ignored? They become your experiences too

Allistics have benefited from thousands of years of Autistic invention, and the thanks we've gotten for it is genocide and systemic oppression.

This fact never stops shocking me.

Allistics are very hypocritical, claiming to have empathy and tact but showing none.

One of the more difficult parts of having a monotropic brain is the unevenness of expectations it can generate. People will see me blaze through certain tasks & expect me to be a correspondingly competent human in other respects, then get perplexed (or frustrated) when I need help with “the basics”
